I think our very first officially unofficial GUI contest in the new GUI forum here at Remote Central went very well. Next time around i think the time frame will be longer and we should pick a couple of judges and genres.

Duct Tape's animation is awesome but you cant really compare it to the CQC GUI entered by sic0048. How would you pick the winner? If based on animation then the extensive custom CQC UI loses. If based on number of pages and sources/subsystems then the CQC UI wins. I think if we break it up into categories, slick animations wont have to compete with photo realistic entries like the Lutron keypad from mraneri. And maybe a category for the pros like gwstudios and one for integrators like charris who have a very tightly/custom tailored UI.

As for this time around.. no rules means no losers so everyone who entered gets a T-Shirt or Water bottle. PM me with your shipping address and choice of prizes.

CJ.. i have to say that i honestly think yours is the best. You have a very talented fella working for you. ;)

It's a work in progress....

Is this an MX-6000?

Are you building a "suite" for all URC remotes? I was thinking i would do a MX-5000 and a MX-6000 but didnt know if i should bother with the others. What do you think?

Thanks 39, If all goes well I should have this wrapped up by the weekend. What you see is the Crestron 800 x 600 resized to fit this page better. The 640 x 480 and 1024 x 768 will be exactly the same, every graphic in the library has to be resized and properly placed so they all have same dimensions and layout.

I learned this lesson while building Tactical. I built a ton of different sized buttons but it didnt occur to me that i would need specific sizes to accomplish this.

I like the way you are handling navigation with the 2 "boxes". Primary navigation on the right and secondary on the left. This sort of menu will work very well for a multiple resolution project.

Thanks! I am experimenting with logo's in my right hand side bar. Aaron doesn't know it yet but i stole a screenshot and made (a very poor) logo for him :). The text sort of hides in the page so i thought this would make the links pop better.

If you are interested.. make a 250X50 button that i can use for you.

I am originally built my suites to work with just URC, But now I am going to do them in RTI and Pronto. If you are going to make some templates for URC, the MX5000 & 980 have the same resolution which helps, and I believe the MX6000 and KP4000 will have the same res too. Just a few minor tweak here and there.....The real PITA is the MX980 because I make every buttons anchor to the Right, Left, and both which requires three different buttons for just about everything.....The MX980's just take a while.

The Main reason I do the MX980 templates is because that's our highest selling remote....I and I prefer my graphics to URC's ; )

vpower44, I appreciate the compliments. Some of those icons will be swapped out on the final version though. That battery level icon is a my version of something similar I saw a while back and I made them so the color changes as the battery level drops.

The design is still evolving and some of the popups, like the channel favorites, will have tabs for different users etc... and this time around, I abandoned the trademark oval and round buttons in favor of rounded rectangular ones. The transports on the DirecTV page will have slightly rounded ones on the ends. I also included a mirrored version of the activity page, depending on user preference.

There are a lot of talented people here and everyone has their own unique look, so it's really cool to see what people come up with.

I am afraid i dont do free autographs anymore. It's not your fault, obviously, but i got tired of finding my stuff on ebay. My fans were just after a quick buck so i decided to beat them at their own game.

gwstudios - that is some awesome work!

39centstamp - thanks for the kind words. I just wish I had the time to learn some basic GIMP/Photoshop techniques. I think I could make my templates look even better with a little work. As it is, I have to utilize the stock CQC graphics (or graphics offered by other CQC users), so that limits my ability greatly.

There really is some good work on this thread. But in the future, it would be nice to have the pros and amateurs in different categories. We amateurs obviously cannot compete with the Pros. You guys do amazing stuff!
