So that really is the heart of the matter, and the reason I take exception to people who believe their party is the righteous one and the other is a bunch of thieves.

But one party is WAY worse than the other one (and BTW, neither one is MY party).

Just for an example, if Citizens United ever goes away, it won't be the Republicans who make that happen.

No way to quantify that except by personal preference.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Or data. You can use that.

Honestly, they are all looters, just looking for our hot buttons, and pandering to them in order to keep in power, and in wealth.

agree

So that really is the heart of the matter, and the reason I take exception to people who believe their party is the righteous one and the other is a bunch of thieves.

but what does this have to do with the first part.

Let me put it this way let's superficially look one of the narratives of Robin hood

we have
King Richard : he wants the money to pay the ransom for his freedom
Prince John: he wants the money to live in luxury and he wants King Richards captors to kill him so he can become king
Robin Hood: he thinks the money belongs to the poor who worked for it and the money from the kings treasury can pay for king Richards freedom.

If you are a poor peasant you might agree with Robin and so what he is doing is righteous and the other two are thieves taking your earnings.

If you are the person that got the lands and title stripped from Robin then you don't want the money from taxes to go back to the poor nor do you want it to go to the king who might strip your land and title back, so the righteous person is the price

If you believe the king is appointed by God and so the right thing is to pay the ransom and get him back then you would naturally see paying the ransom and getting the king back as righteous and the other two as thieves.

You are assuming righteous and thieve are written in stone when it is all relative.

Agree 100% which is why I can’t stand arm in arm with any of them.

Nor can I diss them mercilessly, because we sometimes don’t have all the info and other times selectively want to accept some of it and reject the rest.

I think it is totally perspective driven, and there is no rational basis for one viewpoint to have more merit than another.

no things don't need to be objective to be rational.

Let's make a simple scenario

there is you , a loved one and a really bad person that will do anything to kill your loved one. You have a gun pointed at the bad person and he has a gun pointed at your loved one ready to fire.

Do you go:
a) I want to save my loved one so you shoot and eventually kill the bad guy.
b) I don't want to kill anyone so I won't shoot.

Both scenarios are very rational in that scenario, it just depends what you value more not killing someone or saving your loved one.
