For those of you who install security cams and DVRs, what do you do about the incompatibility with Apple- make the customer install Windows or tell them they can only view them on their TV? With Smart Phone apps, I know it's possible to view them that way, dependent on the bandwidth of their carrier, but if the DVR can be viewed by going to a DDNS server, what's the best course of action?

I know Apple isn't hit by attackers as much but they sure make it hard to use some equipment because of ActiveX and Flash. Fargin' bastiges!

Well, when customers who have Mac-Lifesytles (iMacs, Macbooks, iPhones, etc...) need CCTV with mobile phone support, I offer them Speco, TL series.

The TL series works with both PC & Mac platforms, and when the iPhone is one of the requirements, I usually just install a slingbox & let them purchase the app from the app store.

It works great, you get local video out of the TL, remote PC & Mac support and the slingbox brings it to the iPhone/iPod Touch.

If it becomes about price, which sometimes it does, I have recommended Lorex (who also owns Digimerge), they have a all in one package that includes the cameras, monitor, dvr & iPhone app with more functionality.

It's not about price but I got a Digimerge DVR and I found out about the lack of Apple support when I called about something else. They're probably getting a new computer for the office, so I'll just make sure it has Windows of some kind. The new DH Touch series will work with iPhone, so it's not as much of an issue as I initially thought, especially since I called their computer guy and he told me the new computer was probably going to happen in a few weeks. I was planning to send the video to most of the TVs, anyway.

I used some of the Digimerge small dome cameras and haven't been too impressed with their image quality just above the threshold of B/W-color. In B&W, the image is great but low light and in color, it's not good. I like the Digital Watchdog cameras a lot more (D3363V).

Yup, I too am no longer a fan of Digimerge cameras.

I have switched to the Speco Intensifiers & Focus Free Intensifiers and have not looked back...

The Touch Series DVR from Digimerge is nice, especially since now they have a web service that strips the codecs from the video images for use on mobile phones. I have installed a few of those with little to no problems at all.

I haven't read the manuals yet- is the iPhone app in the software that comes with the DVR?

I would like them to use the same monitoring software for all of their DVRs.

I dont think that Speco has a iphone app yet but they do have an application that skirts around the known java requirements of most DVR. The software is called MAC Viewer. It is slightly limited and requires that you type in the full name of the ddns every time which is some what more cumbersome than just clicking a bookmark or shortcut.

Speco doesn't have an iPhone app yet, I keep checking.

The Lorex app is actually decent, and the Digimerge just shows 1 image at a time on the Safari Browser.
