TV is TV, even science shows are more about being entertaining then teaching and informative. You can't expect a TV series to be scientifically accurate, after all if the people producing, acting or writing them where in the field then they would not be producing, acting, writing them they would have an other job to do :)
as for sequels, that is the thing they are often worst (almost always) and they need their own gimmick so they tend to be more exaggerated. If CSI Miami was the same as CSI then why have a second show?

Since there's one "mostly" accurate CSI, that doesn't mean it's duty of the rest to be as fake as possible. CSI Miami has dramatic sunglass removal scenes, that makes it different enough! ;-)

The problem isn't the entertainment factor. I'll give them 2-hour DNA tests and instant court dates to keep the episode moving along. The problem is lazy writing that relies on imaginary technology and methods to move the plot along, when a simple Google search could have turned up other more accurate methods of accomplishing the same goal in the same amount of screen time with the same level of entertainment, but less resultant nit picking.
