in three years time it will be my 25th wedding anniversary

we are thinking of having a holiday in the USA

so here is some information

we are both 45 years old in 3 years time

it will be in July when we want the holiday on or after the 19th.

we both like good food

I like singing at public karaoke bars (not booths)

we both like beaches , and i love swimming

I love technology especially DJ gear PA and sound reproduction

My other half likes shopping

we like meeting new people and socialising

we like good wine and a drink or two.

we love music

We are liberal in our views but dont go about shooting our mouths off about it , we are not racist or homophobic so i wouldnt like to go to a place that generally was

so where in the USA do you recommend?

Well, call me biased because I live here, but why not NY?

July here is beautiful, between 70-90 degrees during the day.

One of the best places in the US for food, a night in NYC would prove that.

Many of my friends are DJ's at karaoke bars here, bars, not booths.

Some of the best beaches here as well, specifically Long Beach, where Quiksilver just hosted its first ever NY based surfing competition.

More technology than you can shake a stick at in Manhattan, as well as shopping to keep the other half occupied. Also, we have the outlets here on Long Island that are a great afternoon out shopping.

Long Island also has some of the best wineries, I visit some of them often with my wife and family. I could personally recommend some if you were to come out this way, especially some that have amazing live bands during the summer months.

I happen to love it here in the Summer, I know many people that go away for the fall/winter months to Florida & warmer climates, and then return to NY in the summer. So much to do here, from Manhattan, to the Hamptons, all the way to the lighthouse at Montauk. Also, there is always baseball games, both the new stadiums for the Yankees and Mets are amazing to see.

I don't generally travel far, but another place to look at would be Newport Beach, Rhode Island, we just went there last year, it was amazing!!!

Chicago would be another great place to visit. Great food, museums, parks, beaches.

Depending on how long you are going to stay it might be nice to stay at a smaller town and visit the big cities. Annapolis, Maryland is a beautiful smaller town. Washington DC is about 45 mins away, NYC is about 3 1/2 hrs away, one of the best boardwalks at a beach is 2 hrs away in Ocean City, Maryland, and the seafood is great. Charleston, South Carolina is also a great town but not a ton of stuff to do. San Diego, California is a beautiful town.

My preferences would lie south.

Key West.

Miami.


I can see NYC as being a great option though. Easy enough to get to and tons to do...

Seattle. A little area called Ballard is cool, especially if you are a Liberal, like karaoke and beer.
