I'm a new member & just stumbled onto this site.
I'm in the process of a minor tweak on my AV System & am looking to replace a Harmony 890 remote, which is giving me some grief at the moment.
I'd like to replace it with an iOS App, which initially would be run on an iPhone 3Gs and a 1st Generation iPad. If successful, my current thought is to purchase an iPod Touch & devote that to be a remote control, as I usually don't carry my mobile phone around when I'm home.
My current system consists of (as I am on the road, I'm not sure of model numbers off the top, of my head):
Pioneer Elite AVR (to be replaced - not certain with what yet, but one with HDMI Switching, which this one lacks & IP Control)
Sharp 37" LCD monitor (about 5 years old)
OPPO 93 Blu-Ray Player
Verizon FIOS DVR
Mac Mini HTPC (2011 model)
The iRule / iTach combination looks interesting. I read in another forum that the OPPO 99 is not controllable via IP (even though it is network connected), but it is controllable via RS232. Is it the same with my OPPO 93? Not being at home at the moment, I can't peek at the back panel. If that is the case, then I would have to purchase 2 iTach's, one for IP & one for RS232, correct?
All of my computers at home are Mac's running Lion, so any computer software needed to program the App would need to be Mac OS X Lion compatable. I noticed on the TouchContol site that their software requires Windows, so I guess that they are out.
Any thoughts on any of the other iOS Apps out there?
Thanks for any information.

By that he means the "Peoples Republic of Denton" - and, no doubt, he'll retort by calling me a Welshman (get it all the time from Accrington Stanley supporters) even though I'm English - a carrot crunching yokel maybe, but still English.

It is indeed, but your query is a little over my head - I've only just bought my first Apple product (iPod Touch) so I'm a bit of an Apple novice. You might have better luck asking in this forum.
