Maybe someone has already invented this? But wouldn't it be sweet if a small company made a PC based IR receiver / transmitter to 'read' codes 'from' original factory remotes to store on a PC? So at some future date you could 'teach' another universal remote every single function buttons codes for that factory remote that we all know will eventually die.
It may be a niche market for a small company to make that could really help those of us with older components that still work perfectly but the remote or some of its buttons stop functioning.
Even custom programmers would probably find it very handy.
