I have a 42" Panasonic plasma. Will soon be replacing it and have been looking at the LED TVs. We like the smart TV technology. 3D is not a huge deal for us.

Have been looking at Samsung, but since I haven't looked at TVs since we got the Panny, I am not really up to speed on whether or not I should be looking at other sets as well. We're trying to stay at around $1500 and in the 55" (max) size. Depending on bezel width, a 55 is about the biggest we can fit into our entertainment center. So a 50 would be ok too, although that seems like an odd size now.

So is Samsung the way to go for smart TV or should we be looking at LG as well.

Oh... in Samsungs, we looked at a 7100 and I think the other one was a 6300 (a little cheaper)

Guidance and opinions welcome. :)

Thanks

Generally, the guys here have said that Smart TVs suck, and the way to get the Smart stuff is to get a BD Player with that.

Now, installers are thinking of using a TV primarily as a display, and controlling all the functions of everything with a programmable remote, and it's VERY hard to do that if one set of functions is inside the TV instead of feeding the AV Receiver from a separate component. So that IS one reason they don't want to use them.

Now that this thread is back on top, does anybody else have a comment?

yardbird, if you don't get some comments in the next day or two, you'd do well to start a copy of this thread in the Custom Installers Forum.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
