Hi,

I just purchased a new Sony KDL-46EX700 TV and a few weird things have happened and I am trying to work out if the TV is broken so I can return it.

The first fault was while watching a Sony hard-disk DVR through the tv the whole screen suddenly went black (including some parts of the screen that were drawn by the DVR) and sound was lost. This lasted 3 seconds and then came right. The DVR is connected using an HDMI cable and we have never experienced this sort of problem with the previous TV. Also after the problem occurred we rewound back and was able to watch the 3 second that had disappeared.

The second fault is to do with changing inputs on the TV using the input select button on the remote control. One thime while doing this the screen started rolling over and over, but eventually came right after 5-10 seconds.

We have never had problems like these with previous TVs and the TV was installed by professional installers who tested everything before leaving the house.

Does this sound like the TV is broken?

Regards

Assuming the "rolling screen" was happening on a HDMI connected device, this sounds more like HDMI negotiation/syncronization issues. I would try new cables.

Also more details about exactly where this is happening, on what model devices, how they're hooked up and using what type of cables would be useful.
