Hi,
I'm an end-user who has a broken MLX-3 (off switch at the top is broken), and I just purchased a brand new MLX-3 from ebay to replace it. I was able to get it "acquired", however I have no clue how to extract a copy of the project from the broken remote and install it on the new/replacement remote. I could use a few pointers, please. Also note that I do not have access our CP3 or the code running on it.
Thanks...

Without Crestron software, you can't do anything.

I don't know about the MLX3 specifically, but you're probably not going to be able to retrieve what you need from an existing remote. You'll need the compiled UI file from the original integrator. Then you'll need the software (dealer only) in order to load it.

You need the VTPro file for the remote and Crestron Toolbox to upload to the remote or gateway. It will need to be setup for the same RF ID as the broken remote. Without access to Toolbox and the compiled remote file, you're out of luck, it can't be extracted from the remote.
