We have a customer that has a prodigy system (4 audio zones and a PTX-3 for control of a theatre).

I know there is a firmware for the prodigy processor to allow the Crestron devices to communicate to it, but is there a firmware for the P-AMP and hardwired keypads (don't remember the model numbers) that will allow them to communicate to a Crestron processor.

The reason for the inquiry is their PTX-3 remote has died and they want a new one. the PTX3 (obviously discontinued) along with the MTX-3 so I want to suggest replacing the processor with an MC3 and get a new remote but want to ensure that the existing Prodigy equipment will communicate with the MC3 before I suggest this.

You can add the Prodigy devices to normal (Full) Crestron systems now. This was enabled via database updates a while back.

As long as their Prodigy is a 3 series, why would you replace it? After applying the firmware, it becomes a MC3 with 1 program slot.

I don't remember if it was a PMC3 or PMC2 but for some reason I am thinking its a PMC2

Believe it is the PMC3-XP that can be upgraded with firmware to control all. Can still find on ebay.

Or the PMC3. Have done a couple for customers.

Originally you had to have the XP version but the firmware works on all 3 series Prodigy processors.

I went onsite today to fix a couple other issues and confirmed that it is a PMC2 they have. I have confirmed with Crestron that all the existing prodigy equipment can be controlled by a 3-series Crestron processor as long as the prodigy equipment's firmware is up to date/most recent for prodigy and that the Crestron processor has the latest firmware and the programming software is running the latest releases.

Does this enable a PMC3 to be used as a slave as well? Can you drop in in as a separate processor using a 3-series EISC?

You could always use an EISC.

Can't add the PMC3 as a slave though.

an EISC lets you send/receive data between two programs.

slaving a control processor means it isn't running a program, instead the Master is talking directly to the slave's IR/COM/etc

Ah OK, thanks. And that makes more sense given the situation I'm working with.

Load the latest firmware for that processor, should be for the PMC3XP it will work with yours, have done it before. Just login to the Crestron site and it's there.
