These are all third party GUI's that don't "come with" the Prodigy system though...

Separate question - I'm going to have Silentgliss electric blinds in the main room. There's a lot of glass t different angles so it will probably be ten individual blinds. Can PMC2 handle this or do I need a PMC3 that can take a crestron blind module?

Well teh PMC2 & PMC3 both only have 2 relay controls, so if you are just controlling with a simple relay then No, neither can control. I haven't worked with shade control much, but many have a central unit for controlling the shades and you would just talk to that unit.

Otherwise, I'm sure there are serial devices the provide control of multiple relays.

As for the GUI, nothing really "comes with" Prodigy, it depends on your dealer. Crestron has Graphic sets that they provide. We really don't use any of them or just parts of them. We provide the same GUI to all our clients, but it is a GUI that we have develope or purchased and implemented into our programming.

Does Crestron Pro G for Ipad work with Prodigy and if so does it look like in the video below?

(I realise that the ones at the end of the clip are custom ones)

The GUI in the video is a custom template. You get the standard destiny template with the Mobile Pro G. Yes it does work with prodigy. You can customize the Gui any way you like

Hi guys, I'm looking for a bit of advice on what size of network cabinet I will need for the following, and whether any of the prodigy gear is rack mountable (or will i need mainly shelves- and if so how many). Cabinet will be secured at the back of an integrated garage (insulated etc).

Rack will need to hold

PMC3
6x4 Matrix
Ipod Doc (or is this better in the living area)
PAMP
Sonos ZP90
Wireless gateway

Patch Panels
Router
24 Port Switch
Synology Nas

2x Cable boxes
ASRock HTPC

The brand I'm looking at come in various dimensions:

600*600, 600*780, 780*780, 780*600, and 12U to 47U

I may as well leave some room for future purchases too!

Thanks in advance

now this is work you need to do yourself - or hire a pro.

expertise and experience is valuable.

our time is valuable.

look at the specs, allow for cooling.

I am hiring a pro, bit I like to research before hand and be as informed as possible.

Sorry for wasting your time razking, I thought it was a reasonable question in the context of this forum..

You asked. I answered. Just not the answer that you liked.

No one who contributes here expects others to do their work for them.

None the less I gave you help to solve your problem - how big a rack to get.

Read the specs, allow for cooling.

Consider space for power conditioning.

You mention you've chosen a brand but not the name so pretty impossible to even start to look.

If you're hiring a pro you're paying Him to spec the rack, let him do his job. If he's asking for help, then find a new pro!

Putting a proper rack together takes time and I can't see anyone here spending the time to spec out your rack for free. Come on.

If you can fit the 47U, use it. the price between 32U and 42U isn't that much of a difference, not sure about up to 47U. The xtra space is ALWAYS a plus. I ALWAYS go with the biggest rack I can get away with.

Asking every little question here is not research. If you are interested in cooling, perform a search on cooling of electronic systems. There are several good papers out there.

Based on your questions, it appears that you have not even had a preliminary meeting with a CI. I’m not usually and ass (depends who you ask I guess), but I use these forums to learn and help where I can. Your questions are as basic as tying your shoelaces.

I think you need to get a little further along in the process with your CI and then poses some pertinent questions.

Prodigy is a good product and choice for many customers. Good luck with your system.

Ok, forget I asked. I didnt realise it was so much work speccing a cabinet - will leave it to the CI

One other question - What do you guys think of Prodigy using an ipod as a hard disc for music?

I realise that you can get a seperate creston server (ADMS), but I already have all my music on a NAS and dont want the other functionality (and expense) of it.

Once my library gets bigger than the biggest ipod there are issues?

Also with the ipad2's arrival, I take it they will have to re-do the ipanel and other mounts etc?

I'd skip the iPod dock. Autonomic Controls' MCS software provides for 2 or 5 sources.

It provides digital music files from networked PCs (and I would think NAS), Sirius/XM, Pandora, and internet radio stations (via RadioTime.com). Spotify is another option - which I don't think is available in the U.S. currently. Rumor of Rhapsody.

I don't think there is a limit on storage. Supports FLAC too.

Autonomic iPad app is slick, but control may be easier with the (new) Crestron app, or a 3rd party app (CF).
