I have a customer who replaced his Crestron stuff with Savant a while back. The company that did it re-used the 16x60 house audio amp. When the power fluctuates, as it does often here with the summer storms we have, it comes back up in standby mode, and he's got to go upstairs and manually press the button.

Swapping the amp is probably the best idea, but I figured I'd toss it out here to see if there was a workaround.

Thanks

well that was really dumb.

either replace the amp or, assuming you can program crestron, get an RMC3 to just turn on the amp when the savant triggers it

The Savant was put in a few years ago and the homeowner really isn't in love with it. Anyway, that's not a can of worms I'm looking to open here, but yes leaving that amp in was just a poor decision. I have an MC2E laying around, so I might go ahead and put that in, but was hoping to avoid it.

I also found an old ST-CP. That would be an appropriate use for something like that, I think. Can Toolbox even talk to that..?

Thanks

No you'll need viewport.

This also means you can send some kind of trigger from the savant to the MC2E or ST-CP

Or just put a 1 on the main power on input.

It's on all the time right now!! Not like anything would change plus, having the amp on with no signal or rooms running, isn't going to draw much power.

Best thing would be to replace the amp with one controllable by Savant.

I know, and I'm working on that. I got toolbox to 'see' the ST-CP, but that's it. It's connected, but none of the functions work.

I can't get back to this job until mid July so I'm tinkering with potential workarounds in my spare time. I may just tell the guy he needs an amp.

Sell him a new amp. Once you've tinkered and get it to work, you'll be responsible to keep it working for free. (or nearly free)

This is a fairly common issue with the 16x60 amps, and in the instances I've seen in the past, even the processor won't be able to turn it back on. The red button on the back still must be pressed.

The only work-around I'm aware of, is to open the amp and connect a relay to the switch contacts. Then the relay can be controlled from another device to force the amp out of standby.

However, as others have mentioned, the best solution is to replace the amp.

Thanks for the tip Tony. I have a Crestron amp that will not connect via Cresnet. So this will work perfect.
