Good Evening Remote Central!

What would you suggest for a DIY'er wanting to add Crestron Lighting controls? I am currently using ZWave and im tired of building stuff to sit between Crestron and my lighting controls. Right now im using HomeSeer since i purchased it 6 years ago and im using TCP to send status and commands back and forth between Crestron and Homeseer. I am finally looking to take the plunge into Crestron Lighting but i am curious which devices you would suggest for me to use? switches with local load control and infinet or wired back to a control processor? or a Panel with homeruns for the lights back to a closet? What is the advantage of running to a CLX-1DIM4 vs (4) CLW-DIM1RF?

My end goal is to get instance status when lights are turned on or off and the basic controls (ON,OFF,DIMXX).

Any kind of guidance would be appreciated.

Thank you

Eric

It depends on whether you already have centralized lighting or not. If the house is wired for centralized lighting then the CLX-1DIM4 makes sense. If it's wired for regular switches and dimmers, then one of the current Crestron Cameo series of dimmers makes more sense. (The CLW-DIM1RF is discontinued)

For a DYIer, get a Pyng Hub and replace all your switches with crestron EX ones. You can also add EX keypads.

App is free-though iPad ONLY.

Even if I already have a PRO2 that is controlling Audio/Video, HVAC, and Security in the house? i was just looking to extend my system to also include the Lighting. I will look at the EX switches. Thank you

If you already have a Pro2 and somehow have the programming software then getting an infinetEX gateway as well as some of the dimmers/switches mentioned wouldn't be too hard to add to your current system.

If you don't have the programming software then getting a Pyng Hub and the switches/dimmers would be your best bet.
You can't fix stupid

Yea, our company is a Crestron partner. I was able to go to some of the classes and have access to the software. I will look into those switches. Are there any that are a version prior that you would recommend or should i just get the latest and the greatest? i would rather get 20 switches instead of just 5 :)

Thanks for the help!

Being that they're discontinued, thoughts would be not to use them. Why not look at the Cameo dimmers and switches. E series is a little less but no back lighting.

You're a Crestron Dealer?

And you want these for yourself?

Have you looked at Personal Pricing/Pyng demo kits?
