I have single cat6 cable to a projector in my media room which i have had to use for 2 purposes, 3 wires for RS232 control and 2 wires for IR. Individually they work fine, however, when I have both the rs232 and ir plugged into the processor at the same time the ir does not work. Is there any reason for this?

Thanks in advance

1) Why both?

2) Must be some kind of interference. Try different wires?

Thanks for the reply.

The running of a single cable has been an oversight on my part, ideally, I should have run two.

The RS232 is going to a projector and the ir is controlling an ir LED light controller.

When you say different wires, are you referring to different wires within the same cat 6 cable?

Yes he is. Try like the Blue/orange pair for the 232 and the brown pair for the IR

are you sending commands to both at the same time? Like a power on AND a light off?

could be cross-talk no matter the conductors used.

can try staggering commands if that is the case.

unless there is a weird short to ground between the 232 and IR it *SHOULD* work
