I have a T2-C that is on the fritz. I was wondering if the RTI T2i is compatible. According to the specs it should be. Has anyone used one? I entered the remote into RTI software and it asks for a processor to enable RF commands. Thought that was a little odd. If I add a old RP-6 just as a dummy processor to enable RF on the remote will this work? Any body else use a "New" RTI remote with Crestron?

Just talked to RTI. This will work. Apparently the RF trigger codes force the remote to output RF. Didn't know that.

Yes...remote in standalone mode and the Crestron trigger codes force the 433 triggers that Crestron is looking for.

The big bummer is that you cannot use any other feature of the remote (no flags, no graphic variables, etc...) on a button that has a Crestron trigger code on it. They did not design the firmware to allow these features once the trigger code is dropped on a button. It does not sound like they have much interest in doing this in the future. I imagine they see it as competition. I personally see it as opportunity because despite loving Crestron, I feel their RF remote solutions always fall short. They always seem to be designed by geeks for geeks and the general public is never too comfortable with them no matter how they are programmed. I sell RTI as well but I would sell their remotes on every Crestron job as well. The only remote that works well for the application is the T1B since the graphics are not in play and feedback scenarios are not in play for the most part.

I know you can do processor to processor communications between Crestron and RTI but what a cluster f*#k of wasteful programming that is... just because you can does not mean you should!

I hear you there. I wasted alot of time on that a couple years ago trying to figure that out. Don't know why I wanted to but I wish I had that time back. I also agree on Crestrons remotes. The MTX-3 feels like a cheap piece of plastic, the MLX-3 is just a stupid design and programming it is retarded, and the "new" touchscreen looks like crap. Honestly, I can't stand Smart Graphics.

I disagree on the Smart Graphics. I have some great iPad layouts utilizing some of these features although using them on a remote seems a bit silly. Now that Crestron has made management and ordering of the smart graphics modules easier it is slicker to implement as well. It took me a while to figure out how to bend them to my will and fit into my module schemes but it allows me now to implement a very feature rich UI in a minimal amount of time.

the new HR-1x0 remotes are quite nice for basic operation of TV viewing.

The new TSR-302 WILL be great come Feb when the new software is released that includes the KILLER APP for this remote in a TV/Theater application.

Also while it has its quirks, Smart Graphics has come A LONG way and looks a WHOLE lot better now.

In Feb get ready for some great new additions

I have a pretty nice one I had someone make for me. Sooner or later I'll have to upgrade my house and develop my own. LOL
