I have spent the last month dealing with 2 MC3s being hacked through Cogeco Cable. I was getting calls from these 2 clients saying that their systems were completely inoperable. After checking the error logs I saw rapid hits on the processor attempting to connect through the SSH and TELNET ports.

I set up SSL authentication on both but the processors would still lock up after a day or 2. The next step was to disable the telnet and SSH ports on the processors. Both processors have been up and running for 3 days now so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Anyone else having this issue?

I can't say that I have had this problem with any of our systems. Is there a specific reason why these two systems are getting hacked, as in are these clients into a high security career where they may become vulnerable to these attacks? This may be a good time to sell them a more secured network to prevent these attacks.

I performed a job a couple weeks ago with an IP security module and the client wouldn't let us install it onto his firewalled LAN as he didn't want to open the ports and become vulnerable to attacks

I don't think so. The one customer is retired and only has one pc in the house. We scanned his counter for malware and viruses and nothing out of the ordinary came up. The second client was in the same boat. The only common denominator is cogeco at this point.

Do you have ports forwarded to the processor from the router you're using, or are they getting through that too?

Yes, the ports are forwarded on the router
