I am trying to place a delay on programs starting and am looking for some help.

If I place a "1" on the input of a delay and have the output of said delay go into "Start Prog 1" will this work, or is the "1" linked to the program starting not the processor starting? If the latter how do I know when the processor has completely started?

The purpose for this is to reduce service calls when the processor is interrupted during a boot sequence and causes the programs to unregister and start.

This is for 3 series processors (CP3 to be exact) and programming in Simpl BTW.

I've only done 3 series processors and have never had this issue. What is causing the interruption?

Power failures. There are UPS units installed but they don't solve the problem all the time.

here is what is happening [Link: remotecentral.com] (Gman was experiencing the same problem) and I am looking for a solution to it. I also have this question in with TB so will update if they have an answer for me

Go to System Monitor(on a CP3 its Slot7)

Go to System Control.

Tie ProgramX_Start_F to an OS then the output of the OS to the delay.

as confirmed with Tech support, this will only work on slots 2-10, slot 1 is reserved to load during processor boot sequence and if slot 1 cannot load it will then not be able to delay slots 2-10

The processor bypasses ALL boot sequences for programs and requires a progreg and progstart once this has happened to get the programs running again.

So you want a program in the processor that will reboot said processor if the processor doesn't boot?

You'll need an external device of some kind.

Or a paperclip and a string

Until I talked to TS, I was hoping that there was a way to delay the program boot sequence until the processor has completely booted. Unfortunately that is not the case as the first program is booted during the processor boot sequence.

No an external device or paperclip and string wont solve the problem either as once the processor has decided to bypass the program boot sequence, the only way you can initiate programs to run is to perform a register and start of said program/s. Until the register and start are completed the processor will not see the programs on a reboot.
