Hi,

I'd like to provide the ability to send all my audio sources through a DM system. This could include Crestron's AMFMXM tuners or some other source such as DAC.

What does everyone use to convert RCA stereo outputs to HDMI so that it can be distributed or am I thinking this through incorrectly?

Thx...

What are you trying to do, get the sound through each TV?

Yes just a simple conversion of the analog signal to HDMI and send it to all zones on a DM. Some zones will have hi performance receivers so it would be nice to be able to convert at high quality.

Ok I just found this. [Link: parts-express.com]

I think DM blanks the video signal on a DM switcher so that we can do this. I'm not absolutely sure of that.

I would mainly use this with a high performance DAC via USB to an audiophile computer such as this. [Link: computeraudiophile.com]

Some some zones will benefit from this high quality distributions and other zones that only have TV speakers not so much. At least I could easily deliver all sources to all zones in a simple to program solution.

You shouldn't need those parts, Crestron makes cards with stereo input for the DM frame...

Holy crap it was right under my nose and better than I imagined.

This little baby will allow me to send all sources to all zones regardless of the capability of the zone in terms of audio.

I can now send all my audio sources to each hdmi zone regardless of the capability of the zone. For example if the zone employs an AV receiver then these zones will get a very high quality audio experience. If the zone is just a TV with built in TV speakers I'll still be able to send an audio only signal to that zone. Granted I only have 6 inputs on the lower cost DM switchers but at least I can now do what I want.

Sorry, forgot the smaller matrix units don't use the cards...
That's a nice little HDMI 'band-aid' part.

That's a pretty cool little box. I didn't even know that existed.
