but yeh the plx3 is a good one..think it'd be good to just use prodigy inwalls and plx3s with the 2 series processors to keep down the cost on some pj, but as far as using prodigy as the mere backbone for heavy lifting, the installer can't be THAT stupid!

One of the benefits when we first got into Prodigy was how much you could do for so little money, but when the PLX2 wasn't any good, it pushed the price back for $1k, so we still have a few jobs that have demoted down to URC/RTI systems. If they offer a PMC2+ PLX3 combo, I think it should come to just under $1k msrp....TOTALLY GUESSING HERE.

I'm sure the PMC3 will cost more, but I have a few projects that I've been waiting for somthing like this for the interconnectivity. Has anyone heard ETA's for any of this?

Also, I saw that they have a table top and in-wall iPad dock available as well.

wooow at around 1:11 they got the prodigy ipad inwall..that's pretty cool, although bit goofy looking but still good thing it will work.. well i'm not surprised because with crestron ANYTHING is possible!

they got the ptx6x, doesn't have the glossy look, quite obvious aswell that it won't have the same graphic board and various other features the tps6x offers but it's a start.. a bigger touchpanel was needed for prodigy and atleast now that prodigys 6x can be used on full series projects to cut down some cost.. not bad crestron.. damn it REALLY looks like crestron is out to cruch c4 out, they really HATE competition.. they had to tap in that low market huh.. why blues? whyy? lol

they just need to have it all huh, so what if 50 cent has AMX, well Akon and plenty others (celebs, sports stars etc..) have crestron instead.. cmon guys u can't have it all ;) damn now they even want little street corners newspaper billy bob to have it in his home instead of c4 ...

don't believe me look at their new product lines, better yet, hear it from the guy himself from 1:54 on the video lol ....DAMN YOU GUYS lol

What bothers me about the video is that at the end he says that if you are a Prodigy dealer, you have access to the whole line.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

It was only a matter of time before they allowed anyone to purchase anything. The good news is that there will be a greater demand for people who know how to make systems work when the unqualified people get in over their heads.

I don't think that's what he meant. I think he was talking about the ability for the prodigy system to work with real crestron products now as well.
You will still need to be full crestron to get full crestron.

thats how I took it, that would be absolute suicide for Crestron to open the entire line up to just prodigy dealers. What scares me about it is Crestron opened its doors to @v*d (with prerequisites and interviews) but who's to say it stops there.

I asked my rep whats keeping you guys from doing the mass market approach eventually like c4 in BB (although that was always c4 approach) it was kind of disturbing because he didnt really say yay or nay about it and quickly changed the subject.

on a side note that PMC3 is is cool. I wonder how much more it will run then the PMC2. anyone talked to the guys at the booth for ETA?

Mass market cant install Crestron. Hell.. most CI's cant do it properly. If they ever get their wizard to where you drag your hardware icons in and click a big shiny button called "BUILD" and 20 minutes later its done.. Then BestBuy will be able to do program crestron systems. Then all they have to do is train their $12 an hour teenagers to properly install it. Good luck with that when your install crew has the club and their rap career on their mind all day.

As an end user who's been checking out the Market for a few months one thing that has put me off the prodigy system was the crappy looking small touch panels. Any idea what price the next size up of wall panel is (say a 6 or 8 inch display) from the main line of Crestron as I could access this now with a pmc3 xp.

Is it viable to Have wall mounted ipads as an alternative or do u need hard buttons? They should have brought out a wall mount for the new hard button iPad controller too I would have thought- don't really like the look of the new portable 6" touchscreen vs an iPad.

Adms doesn't seem to do much more than what a mac mini with plex will do for me- I take it I could just add this as an input into the hd matrix?

Finally, one thing still missing is access to spotify or napster. I was planning on adding a sonos zp90 as an input to get around this. Would just switch to the iPad app for control. Does this sound viable?

Thanks in advance

The video above has a prodigy in-wall dock for the ipad. IMO hard buttons are not required when you have a10" in-wall panel. You have plenty of space to customize the UI. Hard buttons are handy for a wi-fi panel because its nice to not have to look at the panel each time you want to channel up or adjust volume or navigate the guide.

Plex will not integrate into your crestron UI. Do you care? We are in a transitional period where HTPC's and mac minis are starting to compete with high end products. With the iPad and crestron mobile you could leave one app to use the other to have control over both. My advice to you would be if the mac mini and plex is good enough for you then you dont need ADMS. I have a client right now that is more excited about an airport as a stereo audio source then they are about their kaliedescape system. Every client is different. Other clients would kill me if i told them they have to press the airport icon then launch the remote app then make sure their mac mini is on and itunes is running.

Finally, one thing still missing is access to spotify or napster. I was planning on adding a sonos zp90 as an input to get around this. Would just switch to the iPad app for control. Does this sound viable?

You would basically have a source button called SONOS. When pressed it would turn the audio zone on. Then you would leave the crestron mobile app and launch the sonos app to control it.

Is this acceptable to you? Yes? Are you sure? I ask you again because its easy to assume you wont mind but once your actually using it your opinion might change. Todays cool feature thats totally worth waiting for and dealing with 2 apps is tomorrows never ending frustration.

The next 6-12 months all of this multiple app half way control will end i think. Keep your eyes on the space. Now that the iPad is here more and more control systems and 2way products like sonos will beging to be integrated more easily. There are already sonos crestron modules. [Link: forums.sonos.com] Not sure where they are with it though.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH ... soo right! one of the reason we have to be very cautious when offering ipads. clients want things that would sound cool and after living with it, it's an absolute nightmare, the installer is now seeing as bad because it was his job to advise the client "yes it's possible but it doesn't mean you should do it bcz x,y,z"

Not sure about spotify. Never heard of it until today. Looks like they have a MCE plugin. Have you thought about HTPC with IP control? Products like this can be integrated [Link: s1digital.com].

For napster you could use logitech squeezebox with the crestron module from controlworks.

Squeezebox Module :[Link: controlworks.com]

This is assuming that the squeezebox module supports the duet or one of the newer logitech boxes. You might also be able to integrate napster into media center but i dont know if they support win7 yet.
