Hello,

I'm quoting on a system where I think I'll use RadioRa2 to integrate with a Crestron MC3 but I'm wondering about a possible limitation is Ra. I'm also certified in Homeworks QS and I know this has the functionality.

I want to use a RadioRa table top keypad or a hybrid keypad (actually any custom keypad) to send a command to the Crestron controller and set up a home theater depending on the button press. Lat's say the buttons on the keypad are 'TV, MOVIE, PHOTOS, MUSIC'. Is this possible using RadioRa? Obviously these buttons have nothing to do with lighting or blinds. I remember seeing a limitation compared Homeworks where we couldn't control 3rd party devices in RadioRa.

Thanks,

Brent...

OK after a bit more thinking and searching I might have this figured out. I'll add the custom button text to the RadioRa keypad button but there will be no programming in the RadioRa software. The Crestron program watches for activity on that keypad ID and button and sets up the room for watching a movie such as turning on the TV, switching the input, etc. when it sees a button press.

I don't think that I do anything from the Lutron side. I just let Crestron monitor the button presses correct?

I don't have any experience with Lutron so I cannot comment on how you are going to program/setup the system, but why aren't you using Crestron keypads to provide youself the same solution? Is the Ra system already installed and they are adding to it? Is it a price difference? Is it the aesthetics of the keypads?

Rather than trying to incorporate a third party system it seems much easier to use what is already available to you within the Crestron product line.
You can't fix stupid

You pretty much got it figured out. All your doing is monitoring the button presses from a Lurton keypad. When your program sees the button press from a Lurton module you can trigger any event you want to happen from the keypad.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the confirmation.

About why I'm going with Lutron for the keypads rather than Crestron. Its mainly for consistency. For example I could use one 10 button table top key that controlled lights, blinds and also AV. Same for the wall keypads. I can get all the functionality I need with one less keypad and the look is the same on all keypads.
