Hi guys,

While I wait for my installer to get back to me I thought I'd try to educate myself as to why my Rack2 "could" be overloading its 24vdc channel of my C2N-SPWS300?

It's been working in its spot for about 6 years.

I had a UPS go boom a week ago and just replaced it. Everything was working fine until I noticed my iPad wasn't able to connect to the Rack2.

I pulled it out and saw "overload" lit. I reset it... the Rack2 blinked a couple times and then the overload came back on. When I unplug the Rack2 and reset the SPWS300's channel resets fine. When I plug the Rack2 back in it overloads again.

Has anyone had a Rack2 go south on them before?
60% of the time I'm wrong all the time.

Everything goes south at some point. The Rack 2 needs 12 watts. 1 channel on the power supply provides 75. (We try and stay around 60 on each channel to stay under 85%). Do you have anything else on the channel with the Rack2? If not i would measure wattage coming from the power supply channel. If its checking out then i would connect the Rack2 to another power supply channel to see if it also overloads that one. If it does then chances are your Rack2 has a problem or maybe something connected to its HUB (if it has one).

Voltage testing is key.  And also test with it under load.  Is anything connected Cresnet to the Rack2 that isn't connected to a leg on the 300?  What happens if you try the other side of the 300?

The RACK2 uses 12 watts without any cards installed. A fully loaded chassis could use 50W or more.

Yep, and check to see if the fan has stopped running.

Good catch. I could have sworn I typed that/this..."rack2 could possibly be using up the channel".
