Hello all,

Just purchased a used Crestron AES off of eBay and am having a problem setting it up and am hoping to find a few answers from someone that has done or witnessed an installation.

First:
The LCD screen is not legible and hard to see the writing unless you look at a cretin angle, almost as if the dimming on it is out of whack and is in need of adjustment. I was unable to find such a control.

Second:
I do not have any remotes from Crestron and was planing on using my iPad for control. Reading the manual for the iPad App I do not see a way to do this without a dealer program. Is there a simpler way to do this?

Thank you,
Specifying Electrical Engineer

You are in for a world of hurt.

You will get NOWHERE without the programming software. Without the software, you have purchased a paper weight. I couldn't fathom any Crestron dealer giving you the software either. Even if they did, the learning curve is RIDICULOUS.

If you really want this up and running, you're going to have to find a local dealer to program this for you. This could be cheap or expensive depending on how extensive your setup is. As an FYI, the going rate for Crestron programming is upwards of $100 an hour.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news.

Crestron isn't a DIY type system and requires lots of experience and training to be efficient and effective with. The AES is a great and powerf system. You can definitely have it programmed to be controlled via the Crestron app.

Yiu can try and find a local dealers or there are also many CAIP (Creatron authorized independent programmers) that May be able to work with you on your project.

-/ a dealer; we do not own the software and do not have any rights for sharing or distribution it.

Thank you for your input, I was suspecting as much.

I am an Electrical Engineer and have specked a number of full blown Lutron systems in my professional life but have not gotten much in to audio.

Can anyone advise me on the LCD issue. The LCD screen is not legible and hard to see the writing unless you look at a cretin angle, almost as if the dimming on it is out of whack and is in need of adjustment. I was unable to find such a control. Is this a control issue or a broken LCD screen?

Have you tried the "BKLT" hard button on the right side of the LCD screen?

That's something you can set up on programming, Adagio is a good product, all in one solution control system, now you need a programmer or dealer to program or make some suggestion on your design system. Although, If you have the Keypads or APAD you can run a basic out of the box functions but haven't play with like that jet...
