Hi:

I have had Crestron Adagio system for a few year. Last month I bought a DVD player with Pandora. I have grown to love Pandora.
Is there a cost effective way to integrate Crestron with Pandaro?
I control Crestron system with TPS-6L, APAD and ML-600 remotes.

I do have windows home server which is always running and I am open to use this PC as the source for Pandora that makes sense.

Thanks

It will not be fun with the ML-600 and APAD IMO but the TPS-6L should be fine. Take a look here [Link: controlworks.com] . They sell a module and provide you with instructions/links for getting what you need to make this happen.

Or you could just get this guy [Link: logitech.com] and have it programmed as a source to every remote/touchpanel. You would press the "pandora" button on your crestron remote or touchpanel and use the logitech remote to control it.

It sucks to have an extra remote but since you dont have touchpanels everywhere anyway this might be a good choice. You will need to have a crestron programmer add it as a source. You will need to setup the PC & logitech server and you will need to make sure the controller is within wi-fi range.

I dont know how volume will work. You make get some adjustment with the logitech controller/PC or you may need to keep your crestron remote handy.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I just need the ability to hear Pandora in any room in my house.
The only control I was looking for from TPS-6L, APAD was volume control.

Have you heard about autonomichome dot com. They have a product called Mirage Media Control system for Crestron which converts a stand PC into a media server. I have no idea what the cost would be but it looked interesting.

I will think about Logitech solution some more but right now I am hoping to avoid an additional system.

It is too bad that Crestron does not make an addon for Adagio AES/AAS that can do this.

In the near future there will be an internet radio tuner card for your AES. Pandora support wont happen on Day 1 but I have been told it is in the works. For now you could simply get an iTouch and load the Pandora app on it, add the iTouch as a Generic Audio device and listen to it that way. Probably the cheapest route for now. You would need a headphone to RCA adapter as the input cable.

I had a case where someone had an AES with APADs in 6 zones. All the equipment was in his kitchen where a TV with a computer was located as well. We had a CAIP program "Kitchen Computer" as a source so he could just use the computer, navigate to Pandora's website, or anything else for that matter, and here it around the house. No control though, just volume...

Do not do this!

The Duet is a neat product but I would never in a million years put one in a client's home.

Can't tell you how many times I have almost smashed mine out of pure frustration. When it works, it is great, when it doesn't, it is a nightmare.

Oddly, it has been pretty stable for the past few months.(a zillion software updates later) Still not enough for me to trust it with somebody who can and will call me whenever it craps out.
