I haven't spent much time investigating the MC3 but why does a processor need video out in any format? Last I heard it was future use...future use of what?

OSD so you can use a TV as a big screen to control system. I see no real need for it but C4 has it.

Agreed, there's no need for it or agreed, it's there for that purpose?

I'm on the fence about whether I like using a GUI on screen for control (ala Control4). I have seen it in action with a colleagues Crestron system using RTI handhelds...kind of cool, just not sure I'm going to use it, yet, for my clients.

That's exactly what I'm talking about.

We have the OSD avvailable from the AMS-AIP and I think it is useless. The only time I could see great value in it is like Tweeterguy said when using a thrid party handheld to receive the feedback.

Other than that we havve briefly looked at it on the AMS-AIP and never have/will do anything more with it. A pointless feature that is taken care of using either an iPad or Computer interface.
You can't fix stupid

My point is, regardless of what it gets used for, why in hell would they come out with a new product with friggin component out instead of hdmi?

Hopefully, not just to save the 16 cent hdmi royalty fees! Lol

Probably to save the HDMI connection issues. No need for HDMI for an OSD menu.
