We are just finishing up an automation project with an Ademco Vista 128FBP Alarm Panel(piece of garbage alarm system) integrated with a Crestron processor.

I didn't choose the Ademco My partner did and installed before I can object..

The response time when you use the Crestron touch screens is up to 7 seconds when you arm the alarm and till it gives you a feed back that its armed..

Same thing with open zones...
Works fine on the Ademco keypads.

Using Crestron tps6x wall and remote touchscreens...

I know we have all the programming locations on the Ademco programmed correctly from what Crestron wants to work on their end..

But there must something else we must of missed on the programming end of the ADEMCO panel..

Talked to Ademco and unless you get someone who has specific knowledge of what we're dealing with they are no help..

I was wondering if any of you Crestron guys integrated the Ademco panel with Crestron and what might we be doing wrong with the Ademco programming or Crestron programming..

My Crestron guy says all is good on his end..

Thanks

Primo

No experience with Crestron integration on that panel, but you may want to check how often you're polling the 128FBP.  If polled too often that panel goes all stupid and doesn't know how to act.  The dialer stopped working when 232 was connected to an Elan system (with their pre-built driver).  Unplug the 232 and the dialer works again.  Hardly makes any sense, but they did nail it down to being polled too often.  Supposedly a later chipset on the 128FBP panel helped, but we never tried...we just disconnected the 232 and put a regular keypad up...

There are very specific programming fields that need to be set in order to have any kind of success with this unit. If it is working it sounds like it may just be a signal grounding issue. Here are some other tips. Make certain the protocol is set for 1200, 8, none, one stop bit and programming on the ademco side is as follows.

Field Value
05 1
14 1
178 1
179 1
230 0
319 1

Also the 4100SM MUST BE CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO THE J5 4142TR CABLE!! It makes no sense why you cannot extend the cable but if you want it to work heed that advice. Also how is it connected to the rs232 port? The rs232 will only travel 75' or so before you have problems. The interface has a 25 pin printer cable harness on it. I suggest you go to radio shack and get a 25 pin harness and make your own adapter. Here is the pinout

DB9 DB25 Name
1 8 DBC
2 3 RxD
3 2 TxD
4 20 DTR
5 7 SG
6 6 DSR
7 4 RTS
8 5 CTS
9 22 RI

Only the RxD, TxD, SG, and DTR need to be connected. To test your signal ground at the Crestron end you should get 4 volts dc across RxD and Ground when idle and pulse to 1Vdc when transmitting. The TxD should sit around 800mVdc when idle and spike to 6Vdc when transmitting.

If all of this does not help you could have a bad piece of hardware. I have been through this too many times and it can be maddening. There are a few other solutions the first of which is to use GE or Sequel. The second is if you can find a Vista ICM module somewhere control works makes a module that works great and the panel see's this device as an additional keypad. It also has a built in webpage. If all else fails you can set the house on fire.. Oh yea and go f&*k yerself.

Vincent...

You crack me up... I'll never put in an Ademco panel again..

Im a DSC guy and they are simple and easy to use.. the only thing they don't have right now is a talking keypad...

but Admeco programming is so convoluted and stupid(try customizing lcd names)

Here's what Crestron says should be programmed on the panel and what we have programmed on the panel..

location:

05=1
14=1
173=0
178=1
179=111010
319=1
don't know about location 230..(maybe thats the missing link?)

And the 4100Sm is connected directly to the processor about 10ft 25pin printer cable..

its a big job with 72 speakers total, a 16x16 hdmi Crestron Matrix switcher..

anyhow... I'll go ahead and try out your suggestions

I really do appreciate everyones time and effort in helping..

230 MUST BE SET TO 0 or it will not work right. The 179 fields only dictate what events are displayed and has no effect on the communications.

thanks Vincent...

I'll make sure that location is right...

I'm going to try and call Admeco tech. and see if they can help..

someone said there is a firmware update that might resolve the issue...

If this doesn't work I'll burn the down the hole damn panel..lol

and get a DSC..

thanks

Well just to keep you guys updated on what we did with this issue..

I ripped the Ademco piece of garbage out and installed a sequel st8 panel..

Its an Ip addressable alarm panel.. works terrific.. web page access for arming, disarming, easy to set up..

The keypads are weak.. but overall a good and easy system..
