I'm using system builder, and there is no module for this device.
there is a simpl module but its very complicated, and I'm pretty sure it won't translate to system builder (anyone wanna verify that for me? I'm willing to pay for a module!)

anyway, I'm trying to control it directly via rs232 commands..
i built a new user rs232 device and i put in the commands.
i can't get them to work. I've tried different returns at the end and nothing so far.

1. would i see feedback in real time mode if its not a real module?
2. when i connect to the nexia via telnet and use the same command it works fine, so that means the commands are fine
3. do i need to initialize the nexia before i send serial commands?

this is killing me. complicated device to control.

Good luck programming that in SB. The last big Biamp job I wrote was about 1700 lines of S+ for a four way divisible ballroom system with 40 input plates with four inputs each, faders and bar graphs for each input... I hate the Crestron Biamp module; used it once, will never use it again. It's faster for me to roll my own in S+.

What exactly is the scope of the job? What aspects of the DSP are you trying to control, exactly?

You do not need to do anything to the box to enable control.

You may or may not see real time feedback depending on whether you use the SETL or SETLD command. You still have to parse out and scale the response either way.

If you don't want feedback, it should be simple enough, no pun intended. I'm just not familiar enough with system builder to help you...

Even though it is nice to have feedback for the dialer and volume the module is HORRIBLE!! You can just write the strings yourself. It's not that bad. Especially since it's only a couple commands. Are you using serial control or telnet control?

Hey Motech an iPad won't control the Biamp, just kidding.

On a side note Mike how's business down in NC?
Who says you can't put 61" plasmas up on cantilever mounts using toggle bolts? <---Thanks Ernie ;)

Which is exactly why I roll my own.

It's hard to find good techs!! If I ever talk my wife into moving to NC I'd be a happy man. It's nice to know that work is strong enough down there. I want to be in the Charlotte area. My wife wants to be in Southeast VA or Northeast NC.
