We usually use controlworks.com module. Its subscription based. Customers who have it, love it. Go here for screenshots [Link: controlworks.com]

I would think there would be a simple and free weather module for crestron. something similar to which pronto has that downloads info from a website? I know controlworks module is a bit more sophisticated but not every client needs that do they?

Yahoo crestron user groups has sample weather modules that utilze rss feeds.

When speaking to Controlworks recently about an unrelated module they pitched me on their weather module and the dedicated servers that they work with. They explained how data scraping RSS feeds with modules like the ones at the yahoo crestron user group violates copywrite and user agreements and also how there is no control over the RSS feed data structure changing and breaking the module.

Here is one that I've used with great success over the past 6 months - I guess that there isn't any guarantee that it will work forever, but as a throw in gimmick in a project, it's been nice. If it ever stops working, then I may have to step up and go control works.

FWIW...I was speaking to an engineer this week and Crestron will have a proprietary weather module in the new release of Systembuilder...looking forward to seeing it in action......

The issue that comes about with scraping free info from weather web sites like Yahoo or Weather.com is that if they change any of their page format your module no longer works and you need to reprogram.

The reason why there are subscription based services is because you can pay for a service from Weatherbug.com or a couple other providers that allow you to access the info in a simple comma delimited structure that will never change.

I use the API for weather.com and a custom XML parser i wrote for AMX.
It works really well. They even give you the graphics for all of the weather conditions named the same as the XML data so its fairly easy to have the graphics change based on the XML file with send commands to the TP

I think you are better scraping data from the NOAA site as Elan/HL does as this has been a very consistent page setup for many years.
