How do I get the file onto the iPad. It wont load to the processor because there isn't enough room. (PMC2+)

start up the mobile G program and go to setup....when you add the system set "Use Local File" to YES.

Now exit setup and note the ipad's IP address and the bottom of the screen, using Toolbox connect to this IP and load the project

I recently came across this bit, from a very helpful fellow:

'Friendly Name/Location' in iPad setup screen and 'Project Name' in VTPro and SIMPL must match exactly, all 3 places.

Edit - search the yahoo group, post from today, for detailed instructions, if the 'Use local file' toggle doesn't work.

I use system builder. The friendly name is named what I have it named in the project which is Theater iPhone. This is absolutely complete horseshit. I followed their help document TO THE LETTER! Ridiculous. CommandFusion and Bitwise aren't this picky. Never had a single issue with those two system. Why does this one want to be such a pain in the a$$.

No, just the VT-proe and parameter name in SIMPL must match. The Friendly Name can be anything at all

Thanks for your help SWO. I still am having trouble. I'm of course on a static IP. I tried a different port, to no avail. I still get the "unable to download the manifest file error."

I go into the mobility projects under toolbox and i can see the farking Manifest file on the processor. Under /HTML/. I am pulling out my remaining hair.

Do you have the PORT A set to the same port # as whats in your project?

[Link: crestron.com]

my ports are all open, i just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

I'm using Systembuilder so I cant do anything in regards to the SIMPL name

Even when I try to manifest for local use directly to the iPad through toolbox I get an error.

Could all this be because the iPad and iPhones are jailbroken?

Did you forward the ports in the router properly?

What happens if you use the iphone's/ipad's wifi and not the 3G?

I believe you have to forward BOTH TCP &UDP not just the TCP port.
You can't fix stupid

Im pretty sure it's just TCP that's needed, but it was originally both. I changed it to just TCP shortly before taking the screenshot.

I am using the wifi and not the 3g.

I got it to upload the local file finally and it works that way now, but being the perfectionist I am, I refuse to accept just that. I need/want to connect natively and not use the local file but i feel like I've tried every option. It's silly that it works with the local file but not off the process

In another strange turn, this system is a basic system built in composer/systembuilder. It has the weather on the homepage built in. Once i started trying to add this iPad control, the weather no longer shows up on the remote. If i press where weather should be, the "Waiting for weather data" screen comes up but never goes anywhere. I'm sure this is related somehow I just can't figure out how.

Very interesting CGAV. I am having some very interesting stuff going on with a system of mine as well. When I first programmed and uploaded the system, the PTL4s were displaying the "Waiting for Weather Data" message as well. I was on the phone with Crestron about another issue and asked about weather. The tech told me that that 3 series processors (PMC3 in this case) were not compatible with the weather yet.

A week or so later, I went into the program to set some schedules for exterior lighting. After I made these changes and uploaded......The weather mysteriously worked!? Only I had another issue then as the lighting scene choices for each room had now disappeared! Strange.

In a final twist the system is now displaying the weather icon and temperature in its correct postion. but now the weather is stuck on one temperature and won't update.

Anyone have thoughts or experiences with this?

I wish I could help with the weather issue. I think I am having compatibility issues with my router causing my weather and iPad issues. I have not had these issues in the field. I am trying to update a system at my house on my bench testing equipment before taking it to the customer so I'm not doing this crap at someone's house. I'm going to get a new router and see if that helps my problems. I HATE this Ubee router that time warner gave me with broadband.
