Recieved my Prodigy dealer demo kit today and on two of the items I have dead power supplies. WTF!

The PTX3 will not charge, took my multimeter out and checked and theres nothing there. My Crestron Ipod dock didnt power up either, sniped the ends off stripped them and nothing.

Ughhh.....I was so excited, kinda like being a kid at christmas getting that awesome RC truck and it doesnt work.

Anythoughts? anyone had these issues before? it might be worth mentioning that both the powersupplies are the type you can swap out the prongs for differnt countries.

On a sidenote, I was disapointed to see the lack of codes/models. Did i miss a download? I cant even select User data under system builder

The dealer demo kit is a non functioning kit. Its not supposed to power up.

LOL j/k. I have never had a DOA crestron power supply show up.

As for the lack of codes... welcome to the world of custom installation? I have been waiting for the "download" for 5 years :). 80% of the time you can use a similar model number. The other 20% of the time you can steal ir codes from RTI ID or RemoteCentral. You can get some codes from manufacturers websites or from tech support. You can also learn remotes and use common discrete commands to create your own IR files.

Jeez stamp give me more credit then that =)

Ok, so turns out I have a bad multimeter, what are the coincidences? lol Rigged up some LED's and resistors and both powersupplies are working, and somehow someway the Ipod Dock is now working.

I verified that the PTX3 charging cradle has power, Bridged the contacts and it lights up. I can get the PTX3 to begin charging if i ever so slightly adjust the remote but even at that it lights up for a fewseconds and then I have todo it again. I guess i have a bad remote?

Maybe the battery is fully charged and the led's turn off when its full?

Did you do the power conditioning step with the PTX3? Not sure if you even need to but worth looking in to. This is from the TPMC-3X manual.

Battery Calibration
For optimum performance after shipping or any time the unit’s power has been off for an extended period of time, Crestron recommends the following procedure be performed:
1. Place the unit on its docking station/charger and connect AC power.
2. Allow the unit to charge completely. (The green LED should be steady on for 15 minutes.)
3. Remove panel from the docking station/charger.
4. From the main setup screen, touch Diagnostics, then touch Battery Diags to go to the Battery Diagnostics screen. Touch Recondition Battery, then touch YES, Recondition Battery to confirm. (Refer to “Configuring the Touchpanel” which starts on page 15.)
5. Wait for the unit to shut off. This takes approximately five hours. Leave the unit off the dock the entire time. During this operation, the Battery Reconditioning screen shown on page 25 will be displayed until the unit shuts off.
6. Place the unit back on the docking station and allow it to charge completely.
7. Unit is now ready for normal operation.

Optimizing Battery Life
In order to maximize battery life, use the following settings:
1. From the main setup screen, touch Standby Setup to enter the Standby Timeouts screen (refer to “Standby Setup” on page 22). Use an Undocked Standby setting of 30 and an Undocked Power Off setting of 45.
2. From the main setup screen, touch LCD Settings to enter the Display Settings screen (refer to “LCD Settings” on page 27). Use an Undocked Brightness setting of 50.

Thanks stamp! i was just reading that. No, I cant even get the screen to come on and the LED doesn't even blink or steady on. I have even removed the battery and placed in dock, assuming it bypasses the battery altogether.

They issue you are having is that the remote is not seated properly in the cradle.
I am experiencing the same issue with a ptx3 I just did. Its not you, its the cradle.

What does the back of the ptx3 look like? I had an issue with a couple of tpmc-3x docks where the circular "pin" needed to be adjusted If the horizontal dock has this same pin you may be able to resolve the issue.

See where the remote attaches to the dock? The bottom/right portion has the circular pin that i adjusted. I took the dock apart and pushed it out releasing it from the hot glue. I pushed it out so that the pin was more exposed and put some new hotglue in. Done.
