Hello Everyone,

While I have become quite the RTI programmer, crestron on the other hand is completely new to me. I am hoping even though these questions are very basic to people who have been doing crestron stuff for a while I can get some answers from you pros.

I have bought my first system, Adagio, CNX-BF12 TPS-4L, CEN-iServer. Standard stuff.... I have taken the intro class at the distributor several times. Done the crestron 101/toolbox online courses. I've even wateched all the online videos on the crestron website. While i do plan on taking the CTI courses in person i would like to have some experience before walking through the doors... Which brings me to the basic questions.

What are the Digital, analog, serial joins? What's the difference between them? and the most important question... why the heck doesn't my "media" button do anything on the TPS-4L...

I have tried about 12 times now, using the adiago composer, SB. Heck I even tried to look at it in SIMPL... (except i got scared and ran away heh)

In the info button at the bottom of the screen it says "The button will flip to page "[Adagio] Sources" .... Problem is, there is no Sources page under Adiago folder that i can see. I can't seem to understand why the "media" button on the home page won't go anywhere...

Thanks for your understanding.

I have the AADS-XM and CEN-iServer listed in the project.

System builder isn't easy to understand if you haven't been to training. My advice would be to get to a advanced system builder class ASAP. Actually, you will probably need to take the Essentials of programming class first. Programming Crestron systems is nothing like RTI. System builder is way more powerful than RTI's Integration designer. The essentials class will give you basic knowledge of Simpl.

Yah, So i have noticed! I plan on taking the essentials class, system builder and the resi course. Our problem is there is no easy access to training facilities in our geographical location.

The thing i can't figure out, is i know system builder will do a lot of the initial template work for you, i just can't seem to understand why it won't give the master bedroom access to any sources even though they are in the project. The lights button will work (it just flips to an empty page). but not the media.

I plan on taking the course, i just want to get a basic understanding of some of the terms before i walk through the door.

Right click on the room or and make sure that sources are selected to be used in those rooms.

Go to each source and make sure you have it set to an input on the PAMP DA.

If the sources are set for a room or assigned to DA inputs, then there is nothing to show because the system doesn't think there is anything in that room.

If it's not feasible to travel to a training facility, it may be worthwhile to hire a tutor who could help you get up to speed much more quickly. A couple hundred dollars would be money well-spent, if it could have you programming systems more efficiently, sooner rather than later :-)

I believe Alan offers such services, and there are probably a few others. I also provide them for Simpl and VtPro, but not System Builder.

Thanks tony for the great suggestion! I'll look into that as a backup plan.
