It is probably an indication of how low they think the knowledge pase of a Prodigy dealer might be. Heaven help a customer who has to deal with an installer who can't even install Crestron software properly!!!

AMX shipped a dell laptop with their MAX Server. The laptop was so sluggish that it couldn't properly run the configuration software.

I blew our DRP funds on two Prodigy demo kits and several packages to sell. No, have not received as yet. I believe in demos, although years ago I was pissed that Crestron sold theirs with Crestron lighting and I did not sell their lighting.

Our boss spent his on a digital media system. I pushed really hard to get a prodigy system that i could install in my master bedroom for testing. He knows i am always willing to sacrifice :).

I will have gear in hands around 3:30pm CST today. I will report back on how it operates. I expect range on the PLX-2 to be around 100 feet (just like the MLX-2).

I just caught this and want to mention that many have reported getting nowhere close to that so anyone reading this should be very careful and IMO not expect to get 100'. Personally if I am specifying an MLX-2 I would be conservative and try to make sure to have the gateway in the room within 25'.

I was told by someone who has already installed several Prodigy systems that range is about 30'. I hope we get better range when our demo unit arrives.

Sitting here acting like I am working, thinking about the strange phone messages left on my cell phone at 1am this morning from several friendly competitors who I assume have already arrived in Atlanta, and judging from the messages were already quite inebriated.....

Why would Crestron delay release of the audio portion of Prodigy? Seems like it just would be a cheaper version of Pad8 - why the long delivery time? What is so special about it?

Let's see, Prodigy is designed to have wireless dimmers, wireless keypads, wireless thermostats. Ergo, the audio is wireless? Designed for retrofits with no existing wiring?

Just a guess.

That video talks about inner system communication from one Prodigy to another. Thats the first I've heard anything about it. I would imagine this will eliminate expandability issues if you are already maxed out on a system and the home later grows. Is this the case?

Looks like Feb for the PTX3? I can't really wait that long. I assume there's nothing the PTX3 can do, except connect to other Prodigy gear, that the TPMC-3X can't?

I am not a fan of the hybrid 'prontoesque' remote controls like the TPMC-3X because it doesn't have a number pad but i know that some people rarely use the number pad these days because they use channel favorites and the guide to surf.

But.. it sure would be nice to have that touchscreen to navigate the ipod and the tuners :). Now i have my fingers crossed for them to throw in the TPS-6X :).

Having seen Crestron's GUI at the show I am not particularly worried that the keypad is softbuttons. The fact is that it works. The TPMC4x also required keypad buttons to be soft. Big deal.

I thought the 3x quite cool and if its part of Prodegy -- I walked away while the salespukes were at the Prodegy display--then it's one more reason why Prodegy could be a killer system. That remote was that impressive.

Not saying it's a big deal just that i wont use the product. We have never sold a TPMC-4X for the same reason.

I like the 3x but i like the 6x better. I would reluctantly spec the PLX-2 as a hand held remote for prodigy just because of the number pad.

The 3x and the 6x are very different products. The first is mostly a one-handed keypad while the second requires both hands to operate. At some point the 6x might show up in Prodegy but I'd be surprised --unless it were a wall mounted panel. Prodegy is a budget system designed not to compete with the budget Adagio system. If they don't expect to canibalize existing sales they need to be very carefull which products they permit to cross systems.

Has anyone gotten their hands on this stuff yet. We're in the process of getting there and have already placed our opening orders.

On a side note, does anyone know if you can nix the audio keypads and simply assign a separate hand held remote for each zone? (kind of like the Bose distributed audio system dare I say)

Long story short, I'd like to replace an existing whole house audio system with the Prodigy, and just use remotes instead of keypads.

Thoughts? Ideas?

I just created a 5 room system and i was able to add a PLX-2 remote to all 5 rooms so it looks like its possible to do what you want.
