Putting together a small Prodigy system for a client. He has the Marantz SR7005 as theater receiver with Zone 2. I've read that the new Marantz receivers are using Denon codes. Should I chose a Denon model or an older Marantz one?

Thanks

There is a marantz module on the crestron site using rs232.

I have some extensive r&d experience with the Sr and crestron as it has been my learning platform.

This module is fairly new and I am still adding functions and tweaking. Haven't decided whether it is better than the 4411 module that I heavily modified.

I switched to ip control because of some issues I had very early on. Don't know if they still exist.

Be advised that the Sr gens a lot of feedback.

Did the 4411 module work ok right away or did you need to modify it to make it work?

i made a ton of mods to it and to the templates to have them match up. I've got a bit of a bug up my rear (colonoscopy on tuesday so no barbeque for me - too visual?) about having a set of modules and templates that will generate great SB programs (as great as an SB program can be so please no comments on SB) with as little tweakage as possible, that can utilize zones 2 and 3. But I digress.

if i recall correctly i had to add the 2nd hdmi out. there were one or a few (that from the vague memory department) naming differences for the sources. I then decided i wanted to be able to control the streaming sources directly from the ptx3 without the benefit of the OSD (say for something other than the theater zone). that is when i fell down the rabbit hole. I have significant issues with the facilities provided in the devices for streaming control and do not think i will come up with an acceptable (read consumer friendly) solution in the absence of OSD without some firmware changes. be aware that i am self taught simpl and simpl+ and a relative NOOB to crestron so it may just be me (no its not).

Alice says 'Hi'

I made significant changes to the Simpl+ code to make it more efficient as well. It was coded in a brain dead kind of way with no concern for efficiency. Be aware that my simpl and simpl+ work is mostly self taught and I could be talking out of my rabbit hole.

My 4411 based module is somewhat in limbo as I have started working on the newer marantz module (i told you i fell down the rabbit hole- Alice says 'Bye'). imho the coding is much cleaner in that module. I do not like how it handles the NSE messages however. Haven't had time to look at it for over a week and don't remember what else I found lacking.

I am very curious to see which module ends up being more efficient. The marantz module is almost entirely in simpl while the denon module has a lot of string interpretation in simpl+. My interpretation of the discussions from the programmers on the yahoo site is that they and crestron say that things work faster in simpl. in the absence of actual data i feel compelled to see for myself.

regardless cr@p code can be written in any language.

and i realize that i forgot your question and may be babbling.

/edit

clearly babbling - and repetitive.
