My personal PTX3 is no longer charging on the base. It will stay powered on while on the base, but once you take it off, it dies. Anyone had a problem like this with their PTX3? This happened to one of my customer's remotes as well (one) I cant wait until they finally release the PLX3, hopefully it has better quality control than the ptx3.

I know batteries die all the time, but just another aggravation in a long line for this remote.

I haven't had this issue on any. I did have one charging base that wouldn't charge consistently. Turns out you can back out the screws on teh back by about a quarter turn each and fixes it (had a batch over tighented at the factory).

But this sounds more like your battery isn't holding a charge since it stays powered while on the base. If you have another one, try swapping batteries just to see. The life of these batteries is about 12-18 months, so if its less than that, Crestron should RA it for you.

That's typcial off all batteries of this type. i always tell clients up front and let them know the cost of the replacement.

I have a RTI T2-C that I am using with my crestron system at home. The remote "and" battery are from the year the T2-C was released.

That's really good. Damn near every T2-C we've sold has needed battery replacement within 2 years. Of course it's going to be different for everyone and I haven't had to replace any of my PTX3 batteries yet, but in general you should set expectations for 12-18 months.

Sounds like a bad battery. However, have you tried reconditioning the battery through the setup menu?

I've had three docking stations fail on me. One wasn't even soldered when it arrived. I have had a bunch of issues with this remote. I will be honest I have put it through its paces but it is on the touchy side. I will say that Crestron has been excellent with the advanced replacements.

I like the PTX3 a lot and would love to see them invent some more money into it to make is rock solid.

Maybe that's why the cost has gone up, to put a little more R&D into it.
