I'm getting sick of comcast doing updates and turning off cable boxes. Its an easy fix over the phone with the client, but I don't want to let clients get frustrated.

I think a voltage sensor is really the only way to go for discrete control of a motorola cable box without discretes. What are you guys using for this? I know Crestron has a part, but curious if there is less expensive solutions?

I actually have a URC Voltage Sensor that i just have for some reason and am going to test it out to see if it will work.
do wino hue?

Xantech makes a video sensor That plugs into the rear video port. They are much cheaper and work well with crestron.

You've got me wondering if a spare 5v power supply + cable box switched outlet would work with the Prodigy digital sense inputs. Have to try that out sometime.

It does not need to be 5v.
From the PMC3 manual:

INPUT 1 – 2

(1) 3-pin 3.5mm detachable terminal block comprising (2) contact-closure or voltage-logic sensing inputs (referenced to GND);
Input Voltage Range: 0-24 Volts DC;
Logic Threshold: ≥1.2 Volts DC active/high, ≤0.46 Volt DC inactive/low;
Input Impedance: 2.2k Ohms pulled up to 5 Volts

Sorry to dig up an old thread but I couldn't find anything newer on this topic.

What is required to set this up with a cable box that doesn't have a switched outlet? Is the video sensor or voltage sensor preferred? Any particular models you guys are using?

I have successfully used a video sensor from Clear Blue Audio and Video with Prodigy. I dont remember the model # off the top of my head. I think it was "Video Sensor B". I'll post the exact model tomorrow.
