I noticed in a recent Prodigy project with System Builder that turning off the theatre zone turns off all sources even when other PAMP zones are still on. I thought that the global "sources off" commands were only initiated when every zone in the system was turned off. I mean, it only makes sense this way...

What's the easiest way to get this to work in system builder? If I were to use RTI terms, can I set "flags" when rooms are turned on then automatically turn off the source components when the flags are cleared?

I got around this temporarily by creating an "All Off" button on the home page to turn off every room and device in the system but it would be nice to turn off all sources if the user just happens to turn off rooms one after the other.

I think that there is a press and hold type macro on the power off, where if they press and hold the power off button in turns all rooms off, and when they just turn off one room, it only shuts down that room.

Not sure if that is the catch or not. SB is using "flags" to track what rooms are on and off, but its sort of all hidden and hard to alter, from what i understand.
do wino hue?

Just program in a global expression in SB.
"If Kitchen and Living and Bedroom = Off, then Global preset all sources off. Easy thing to do.

Trick with SB is to program all macros using Global Presets and then just refer to those. So much quicker.

I was able to figure out how to do this in programming but haven't tested it on the installation. The only thing I wonder about is should I use the output of the surround receiver to track the power status of the theatre or should I be using the zone 2 extender output? I'm still not clear about the difference between the theatre receiver main zone output and zone 2 extender output.

OK I just had a better look. I guess the only outputs available for programming are on the zone extender. I've been programming System Builder for a year now and things are just starting to make a lot of sense. Still have to figure out how to get text from feedback (such as song info from iPod) or how to get a volume bar going from volume feedback.

Volume bar is easy. Just draw a volume bar, give it a analog join, and tie the feedback to your receivers volume level. Thats it!!!!

Ipod is similar except you are using indirect text. Link the text area's to the feedback from the Ipod dock.

You could also take your 12V trigger out from your AVR and run into an IO port and program it as a digital input and add it to your global expression.
The ports are rated up to 30V.
