I think a lot of this talk of security systems "straining" the processor is greatly exaggerated. Any of the above systems will be fine, and I'd be more concerned about one you can program quickly, that will be easy for your client to use.

About ten years ago, I did a system on an ST-CP processor, which has about 5% of the processing power of the PMC2. This system had a 48-zone HAI panel, 5 thermostats, 60 lighting loads, 8 shades, 10 audio zones, 4 CT-1000's, 2 ST-1550's, and 6 keypads. Again, all running on an ST-CP.

I personally prefer HAI, but I've also worked with many others. From my experience, GE and DSC are also both great choices. Ademco/Honeywell work, but they're troublesome to integrate and don't provide as robust a feature-set (on the touchpanels) as the others mentioned. I'd also stay away from Napco. I've heard good things about Elk, but have never used one personally.

Thanks for that example Tony, this is very reassuring.

Now I just need a HAI or GE system older module so that I can pick up a security panel and start playing around.

I've used the dsc module crestron has on their website, I've used it on about 5 systems, and I've never had a problem with it

I am still having issues getting a prodigy system to control a dsc panel. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have tried everything and still can't figure it out. Also anyone know where to find the HAI module? Systembuilder friendly woud be nice too.

You should get involved in the Yahoo group; I think at least some of your questions could be answered by searching, and exploring the download section.
