Hai is good, it's just a processor hog. I usually use a Qm-rmc to handle my hai program when integrating the omni pro II into my system.

I was told that was the best practice to do, i havent done it before that way, i guess it all depends on the size of the project and devices.

Honeywell just released their new panel. The Vista 128BPT, the T is for turbo..... It communicates via RS232 at 9600 VS the older models at 1200. I guess it should be almost 8X as fast?? Also, the RS232 port is on the board, you don’t need the SM4100 module anymore.
From what I hear, Honeywell now understand the need get involved with the integration side and is making changes. Their new president is less protective of their “code” and she wants to open up the platform a little more.
I even hear that they are in the works with Crestron designing a specific interface module. They are ready to release one for C4. Crestron should be next.
Ever wonder why Crestron doesn’t just make their own security panel? It should be easier than shades!

That is because they partnered with a company for shades (somfy?). Just like they partnered with Sony for the 400disc Blu-Ray player.

I do remember seeing a while back that they were thinking about a security system as they had one on their site. Not sure what happened to it.

It would be nice if they had a specific system to integrate with though, it would create less guessing, troubleshooting and bench testing for us if they did.

The Sequel Security system that was designed for Prodigy (P-Security). That company went out of business. I got a rude awakening when I spec's a system out and went it was time for the install I called Sequel and they were out of business. Very embarrassing to tell this to my client. Still pisses me off typing this because I haven't yet resolved the security system for this Prodigy system. I can't get a good answer from Crestron on what kind of security system to add to this Crestron system. I hate to even attempt to go and try and sell them a PMC3-XP. Anyone here "Affectively" use a security system with a Prodigy system and the PMC2 being the processor.

I've never integrated with a sercurity system with anything. Are you able to get feedback from either of these systems and trigger automation events based on sensors and settings of the security system?

Yes, you can do all of the above with any of the three systems I stated.

Are the Modules available to do this in System Builder?

There are modules built at Crestron Yahoo group. Crestron doesn't supply one though.

The newest module i see on the creston website is for DMP XR500, dated April 2010.

I'm going to try importing the Honeywell moduel and see if it becomes available in SB.

@CPS - of the three that you mentioned, do you have a favorite?

The hai panel is a real processor hog, I use a Qm-rmc to load my program to when using it. So it would be the most exspensive. The nx8e is really easy to integrate with and pretty easy to set up. It is also the cheapest of the three. The honeywell panel works good also. Some people don't like it, but when it is set up and programed correctly it works great. They also have a new versihat of the honeywell that has just been released and that is eight times faster and doesnt need the 4100sm. It has a built in serial port and the model number for it would be either the vista 128bpt or the vista 250bpt.

I submitted a request to True Blue to develop at least one Security system Module to be SB friendly. I requested for the GE NX8E since CPS seemed to have good things to say about it being fairly easy.

Maybe if others request as well we will get at least ONE SB supported security system!

I imported the SIMPL module from the Crestron website for the DSC PowerSeries. The module opens in SystemBuilder and is a simple RS232 control. I'm looking at the outputs now and it doesn't seem to provide full control of monitoring all the closures, but its something.

What I think I want is to have a security system that I can drop into SB and be able to create events based on specific sensors in the system. For example, i would prefer to use the existing motion detectors that will be in the security system instead of having to put in a second one just for lights.

Anyone use Elk with Crestron?

Several times, works really well and is fast as far as response time.

Also done DSC and napco, DSC worked well with no problems at all...napco is just slow.

How hard would it be for just basic control and feedback of the a securtiy system for Arm & Disarm? Probably GE or Honeywell? Would monitoring just these few things limit the chattiness that plaques security systems?
