can't seem to discover my demo p-tstatrf.

confirmed that ID 03 (meshnet?) is not used. also tried with ID 06.
confirmed that channel in stat matches channel in gateway (11)
tried with the stat both unmounted (within a foot or two of the gateway) and mounted. tried with the gateway moved away from the rest of the stuff on the rack - about 5 feet distant.

have also tried the following.
discovery via composer/sb wizards- including tweaking the serial number to be incorrect by a digit or two then switching back.

discovery via pushbutton on gateway

discovery via toolbox (put gateway into discovery mode)

I know the gateway works as i have a keypad discovered and functional.

Did you pu the P-TSTATRF into discovery mode before trying to discover in software?

Hold fan button and up/down arrows for about 5 seconds to enter setup mode on the t-stat. You should be able to scroll down till you see the id #.

i've tried doing the discovery with the ptstat being put into acquisition mode both after and before the pmnetgw.

get E0.

as a side note - anyone have full user doc on how to operate the thing manually. there are a lot of setup options that are not in the quickstart.

After you put the t-stat in acquire mode ( AC should be on the display of the t-stat) does the acquire LED turn on when you press acquire on the gateway? When you press the up/down arrows on the t-stat ( after the gateway and t-stat are in acquire mode) what happens?

Do you have 24 ac power applied to tstat? The rf portion of the tstat is powered by the transformer from ac unit and not the batteries

I do no think it is a power issue. I have a demo in my office running off batteries and it discovered. I did have initial problems and it was a channel issue. Have you done firmware updates on all products?

firmware is current (just reconfirmed on the gateway).

can you do the stat if its not connected? the only update is see added functionality and does not mention wireless and the release notes date this end of sept 2009.

the acquire light turns on the gateway via pushbutton and via the various software methods mentioned.

the tstat has 2 blinking dashes and after a while it times out and gives E0 (timeout)

sorry for the intermittent responses. had to do a computer svc call.

Some of the first pstats that we received with prodigy when the pmc2 and plx2 were out, we had to have ac power applied to them to get them to work. We would use a security transformer to bench test them and program. You may have a older model, just a suggestion I know we had the same issues with them at first and that's what we did and still do to this day. It's good to know that the new ones are working on batteries now.

if this is the case will i need external power always or just for the discovery? If so, i'll just have it replaced (i don't have a power line from the hvac control unit - and will not spend the time running a line).

If it's one of the older models it would need power all the time. You could use a security system transformer ( 16-24 vac) if it is just for a demo. Try hooking one to it and see if it will acquire with the power on it.

maybe manana if we dont get flooded out here in ny.

in the meantime i just noticed that with all the tweaking i've been doing to the system one of my sources lost its I/O assignment and I haven't a clue where to go to put that in.

think i'll copy the device with all of its joins and see if the new device gets the i/o assigned. hopefully that way i don't lose any of the customization. then delete the device where i/o is n/a

Solved - (but do not know why)
Changed to channel 15.

Note there was no traffic on channel 11 according to my wi-spy.
