Hello,

I am a new dealer with prodigy and just purchased my demo system. I havent gone to 2 day training yet in NJ, thats in April. I just had a couple of questions...

Crestron insists that prodigy is for single room tv control and multi room audio. But can prodigy be used to run tvs in multiple rooms? Would i have to get a processor for each room?

Also,

When using the prodigy ipod dock and the mobile pro g app for ipad, does it show all of your cover art when you are browsing you library or does it only show the cover art once you select a particular album? If not, what third party device would you recommend so this could be done?

Thanks!
Philip

We use it to distribute video all the time. I will be honest and say that it took quite a bit of time to learn how to get it all working and get the hang of it.

The Prodigy processor can control multiple rooms of video, you just have to program it in Simpl to do this, you could use system builder but I havent used it in a long time so im not the one to ask how there. I am more comfortable in Simpl. You can use a video switcher controlled serial or ir. You can get cover art on the ptl4.

I am not looking to distribute video, at least not yet. Each room has its own sources and televisions. I want to be able to have a ipad running mobile g in each room to control those local sources and tv. But also be able to run all of the multi room audio from any of the ipads.... would i put a processor in each room or just use a gc100 or something similar?

Do you get a cover art browser on the mobile g app though?

You can do it with one processor that way also. I personally don't do the cover art on the iPad app with prodigy not to say you couldn't. I'm just not the guy to answer that. The crestron app is okay but has its limitations. The Command Fusion set up is by far the best in my opinion but it puts you in a different price point so I usually just have cover art on the ptl4s. You can do a good bit with a single prodigy processor and you can extend your irs and serials with the global cache piece . They have a user module for it on the global cache website. With the old pmc2+ you can have two apple apps running at the same time, with the new three series it's six. I would still make sure that they have at least on handheld like the ptx3. You also need to keep in mind once you get to a certian point using prodigy it starts to make better sense to move to a cp2e.

Isn't the current limit 1 Mobile g per system with Prodigy?

On the older Prodigy you can have two mobile apps running at the same time with no conflict. On the new Prodigy (pmc3) you can have up to six running at the same time with no conflicts.

Why do you recommend the command fusion over the mobile pro g? Are you using command fusion for all of you touch panel as well other than the ipad? Sorry for the dumb questions, i am new to crestron....coming from homeseer, hai, cqc. The command fusion website was kinda vague.

Thanks!

Comand Fusion ipad app is more custom, when you use your ipad it is instant verses the moble pro app takes time to reconnect. CF app gives you more options on the two way control like most touch panels and you can create it to slide pages, buttons, icons, volume, etc. In short it is a real custom sleek set up for a Custom install, but it is also more pricey. The license fee is 150 per app plus it has to be designed and programmed. With that said, that is the reason I said I dont use the cover art with my ipad app with prodigy but display it on the ptl4s. When we are using prodigy, we tend to be less custom and more price controlled. The prodigy system is a great product and we sell tons of them, but it is our entry system so less customizing is done when used.

I heard the buy-in for regular crestron was high so i figured I would start with prodigy. Most of my customers want a lot of customization so it sounds like i should use the command fusion rather than vtpro and mobile g. When you are displaying a cover art browser on the ptl4s, are you using the ipod dock or something else like mirage media server?

Thanks
Philip

Mostly the p-idocv, but more people are getting away from the docking stations now since there are so many server based options out and they are getting so much more affordable. And most can be linked to your itunes pc without having the ipod docked.

What server based option have you used or recommend? Thanks for letting me pick your brain.

Crestrons adms has a sync program that can be installed on your itunes pc and when you buy a new song, video, movie or album it will automatically sync it with your adms. It can be used with the new prodigy pmc3 and they have one that is faceless at a more competitive price.
