I have heard conflicting stories about the new PLX3 that is coming out next month. Does anyone know if it has two way feedback? Can't tell from Crestron's site if it will have the ability to see current song playing, etc.

Designing a system and thinking of using it as the primary TV remote after all the issues that have been experienced with the PTX3.

It was my understanding that it would have two way feedback and also run on 4 AA batteries so it would not have to be docked for charging. I just hope its nothing like the plx2 was, with its ugly two way display and crappy range. From the pics I have seen, the display does not look that bad. Lets just hope the range is good.

What issues are you having with the PTX3?

I have an issue with every PTX3 I've installed needed to be reset once a month to some once a week. That's it for me thought. Nobody has been able to figure out the problem, but it has literally been all of my projects.

I'm 99% sure the PLX3 will provide 2-way feedback.

Hope the PLX3 doesn't have this issue!

That's the thing - this new remote sounds great but we'll have to see how it does in the field.

I can't believe they can't get the PTX3 right. I too have had the reset issues on all installs. I just show them under the battery here it says it's running Windows embedded, and they usually understand.

I think its a software thing because I have heard from many dealers that aren't having ANY issues with teh PTX3 and Prodigy systems, but they are programming in SIMPL. I'm working with tech support to try and find the problem, but so far i haven't been able to repeat and haven't actually seen it in person yet.

Sofa-
Curious as to why this would be an issue with Composer and SB systems but not ones programmed in SIMPL.

Sounds to me like most of the issues (locking up, etc) with the PTX3 are universal to folks who program in any of the 3 methods above.

Yah I agree. I don't see how simpl and system builder have anything to do with the PTX-3. I would think it would be a hardware issue on the remote itself. I have experienced this on one system and on several others the remotes are fine.

It could be caused by a certain combination of data (digital joins, serial text, analog values, page-flips, etc.) being sent to the panel, in which case the method of programming certainly could make a difference.

However, that's pure speculation. I've never seen it happen, so I don't know - but, anything is possible :-)

The first step is to actually witness the event. Next, there needs to be a way to reliably duplicate it (cause the problem to happen). Once you can do that, a solution shouldn't be far away...

I can offer one of my files that was done in simpl that is working with no problems to someone that has issues with one freezing up. They can load it and see if the remote still freezes. I have yet to have this problem on any of the ptx3s we have in the field.

I haven't heard of anyone programing in SIMPL having this same problem. I have had it on every single system (about 8 systems). It's completely random, some seem to be happening weekly, some are once every month or couple months.

I have still yet to see it, but had another phone call today with the same issue. I have sent at least one of my files to tech support and they haven't been able to repeat the problem.

I just received a PTX3/PMC2+ for my home today and will try to get it installed this week and see if the issue pops up.

Crestron says they haven't heard of others with this same issue, so anyone having it, please speak up.
