Hey Guys,

I've been messing around with the MSC-400's 12V trigger which is supposed to send out 12V, but, each time I try it with something it never works. Maybe I have a bad unit? I don't know, but what I know for sure is that when I connect an AC adapter (12 V) it turns on my device, a small CPU fan, however when I connect the 12V trigger from the MSC it doesn't work. There is no indication whether this 12V "trigger" is supposed to be an output or just simply a voltage relay. Can anybody clarify this for me?

The 12V accessory you may be talking about is a black box that plugs into a port on the MSC, is about 1.5" X 2" and only has a cord and two screw terminals on it. This device senses 12V, it does not supply 12V nor is it a voltage relay.

It would be used for such things as plugging a 12V power supply into the switched outlet on your cable box so when you start the cable macro, the MSC can tell if the cable box is on or off and send a power toggle command if necessary.

The MSC does have a constant 12V on the back, as well as two relays.

If you are trying to turn your fan on, you would run your GND from the power supply to the fan, then run +12V from the power supply to the COM (Common) of the relay built into the MSC and the +12V fan wire to the NO (Normally open) side of the relay. This would turn on the fan when you activated the relay.
