Can someone tell me the difference between the URC MX-850 Orion and the MX-850 Aeros? Thanks.

They are the same thing but there was a problem with the orion name so they had to change it to aeros. I have both in my house and I don't see anything but the name that are not the same.

How does the MX-850 compare to the Theater Master MX-800? So confusing...

It's basically an upgrade. They replaced the center select button with a real one instead of the 5-way click pad (much easier), the backlight is much better, and they got rid of the gemstone buttons.

The replacement of the gemstone buttons being arguably the only thing that was a downgrade.

Yes, I agree. I like the look of the MX-850 buttons much better. The new color scheme and the backlit buttons look better on the MX-850. But concerning overall feel and durability of the buttons, the gemstones are much better.
