I just recently purchased an MX-900 and am just getting around to programming it. I downloaded the MX-Editor from Universal's website, and was trying to use the Universal Browser to import some of the device configuration files I found here. None of the files I have tried will show any data in the UB (most files were written for MX700/800/850). I was able to open files designed specifically for the MX-900, but I was hoping to make use of the UB for some of the components. Can anyone shed any light on my problem, or point me in the direction of a thread in case I missed one? Thanks.

The files you're trying to use with the UB must be .mxf files. Many of the files are device files (.mxd) which will not show up in the UB.

Is there any way to convert the files so they can be used?

Yes, but you will need a copy of the MX700/800/850 Editor to do it.

Another option would be to see if the codes you are looking for are available in the Pronto section. The UB works very well with most Pronto .ccf files.

This is really annoying - I found this to be the case recently when I was updating an MX-950 config; a lot of our devices are archived as MXDs, and I'm not sure why URC would remove the ability to use the browser with an MXD file. Additionally, I had some really weird things happen when trying to import an MXD file into the MX-950 profile, it didn't work as well as I seem to recall in the past - did something change with that as well?

As far as I can tell MXD importing is SUPPOSED to work with the Universal Browser, it just doesn't right now.

I was able to get devices to import using either ccf files and by converting files using the MX700 editor. The ccf files were a little less responsive when dragging commands in from the UB, but it was still better than learning every command.

Yes, easiest solution for MXD files is to import them into MX-700/800/850 Editor and then re-save as MXF, which *will* browse correctly.
