Got a tricky situation w/a homeowner ... he went out and bought his own Cambridge Audio tower speakers (sans consultation - thanks for that, buddy!) and is now requiring that the _only_ place the speaker can go in the room is, of course, directly in front of the room's zone keypad. Of course, this completely mucks w/the IR commands my MX900 is trying to send to said keypad (thanks again, buddy!)

Sigh ... so I'm trying to come up with a creative way of resolving this. Affixing an emitter to the keypad isn't an option - I want to avoid running cable and attaching cable to the wall isn't a good aesthetic option.

One thought I had was to run an emitter cable from an MRF350 up the rear of the ##$%)(@&! speakers, hotglue it to the rear directly in front of the keypad IR sensor (~8" away), and turn up the IR output gain on the MRF to max ... never having used an emitter in "blaster" mode, thought I'd check and see if anyone has attempted this, or has any theories on whether or not this'd work.

They don't really reach very far that way. I've tried a few times. You'd be better off getting like an MRF-250, not plugging any emmitters into it, setting it up with a sepearate address than your main MRF, and turning the front IR blaster on. That way you can sort of aim it, from somewhere out of the way, and it'll still emit, but not mess up you'r other equipment. I use that trick for Lutron Maestros quite a bit.

If you can get an IR flasher over to the speaker why can't you retro the flasher up or across the wall to the keypad and mount the LED inside the keypad under the plate? This would be the ideal situation, correct? Sounds like a T&M kind of deal.
