Guys, I wanted to ask a real quick question here

I am trying to update my MX-3000 software and I can't get the live update to take, I recently installed some new network gear and can't seem to figure what the problem is

my motorola router has a firewall enabled and I have configured ports for many things such as FTP clients, Email, HTTP blah blah, I know how to do that and set things up properly for everything I just can't seem to get things working with the MX-3000 live update, just a fail to download patch file message

any advice on this? it would be much appreciated

thanks

-Gary

You firewall my generate a log reporting on actions that have been blocked. If so clear the log and try the live update. You may be able to see what ports and protocols are in use and being blocked. Then you would have to allow access for them.

Can you temporarily bypass the router and go directly to the modem?

If it helps, Live Update isn't working for me right now either ("Failed to download the patch info file").

It, however, seems to use the HTTP protocol to mail.urcmx.com, so there shouldn't be any router configuration necessary.

Thanks guys, appreciate the help

Daniel, if the program uses a HTTP protocol then it should be ok, maybe there are issues right now

I did try bypassing the router after I posted this and got the same thing

thanks again guys
