It should be assumed by now that RF issue will be a part of most posts here.

Dont get me wrong the 900/350 combo has proven stable lately but I still have some 850/250 combos in the field.

Just got a call on an 850/250 I did in Coronado about a year ago. The remote (RF only) doesnt communicate with the 250 when you are in certain areas of the room (status light doesnt flash). Actually about 70% of the room. If you move about 2 feet it starts to work, move 2 more feet and it stops again.

Commands are good.
The 250 is not picking up interference at all.

Troubleshooting:
Unplugged 802.11 router
Turned off Fujitsu Plasma
Moved 250 around niche
Disabled IR

I cant add a MRF350 because its an MX850.

Will an MRF300 really do any good?

The remote was working fine. Client was stoked. Then they changed batteries and now problems. Wierd.

Im blaming this on the near by military bases.

Looks like its time for RTI unless anyone has a better suggestion.

If the 250 isn't receiving interference, then something is blocking the signal from the remote to the 250.

A 300's outboard antenna is more flexible at finding a good spot that works; your not tangled in emitter wires while moving it around.

As side note, have them try a 'different' set of brand new batteries(not from the same pack as there other 'new' batteries) since this is when it started.
Every day is a good day.......some are just better than others!

Proud to say that my property is protected by a high speed wireless device!

Yup..... The military!

I am wondering if locating the antenna from the 300 in a different location would help since it only matters where the remote is not where the base station is.

I didnt have spare batteries today to test but the remote seemed to have full power. I guess thats next.

if you can take back there mx-850 and resell it as used for ir install only, you can purchase a new mx-850 manufactured after 11/06 (on the label inside battery case) these have the (narrow bandwith )and change the mrf250 to a mrf350... this should solve your issues.. explain to your customer that technology keeps changing and getting better.... charge the difference in $$ for equipment and a service fee... sell the old stuff cheaper....

with this sollution, there is no new programming or fee other that service...

Is there a cable box within ten feet of the antenna? I had this same issue and all I could was to install new base and mount the remote antenna behind the plasma which is further from the cable box which is a big problem in my book.

Yup. But I really think its the military base near by. Anyone in San Diego knows that we have some weird spots around town that are notorious.

Mount Soledad
Coronado/Silver Strand
Point Loma

Go figure its all the locations with money.

Unfortunatley I cant run wiring anywhere (I didnt do the original install and no conduit or cat5 were ran). The gear is mounted in a niche behind the tv.

I may try to swap out to the new MRF350.

It might not matter to you customer or not, but hte RF range on the MRF350 will be three times what it was with the MRF250. So they might be able to move further away from the MRF and still use the remote control.
