had to change dishnetwork tv1 to uhf/ir to distribute hd to additional tv's. it's a pvr 622. we switched the tabs on the remotes and also had to change the rev code in the setup screne from rev 3 to rev5. ( don't know why but that's how they told us ). we got 3 remotes to work just fine but when i tested my mx-3000 in the theater room it stopped working( remote is in ir ). i know dishnetwork only has 3 or 4 codes. going back to check ir system today but it appeared to be working. any help would do. thanks in advance.

Not sure I fully understand what you're saying, but DN receivers HAVE to be set on Remote ID 1 to accept IR, all other Remote IDs are UHF, and will not accept IR

That not correct. We do the MX3000 on almost every job and use I/R codes 3, 5, 7 on all of the dish network recivers, and that includes the 622 and the 222

That's interesting. Good to know. I'll have to try that out. Thanks for the correction.

Thanks but how does one change the I/R codes to 3, 5, 7? The procedure in the manual only seems to refer to changing the RF code.

thanks for the reasponse. i'm sorry not to get back sooner but what i ment to say was remote address. i was in a hurry again. dish network equipment should be charged a double time. we were on the phone with dishnetwork level 2? tech and he pretty much gave up with things he had us try. we had remotes with exact same markings and settings and one would work the change back then none would work then one and so on. we were at the point where all we needed to do is set remote address#3 to ir/uhf and tv2 (because they still wanted seperate channel's ) on remote address 5. I can get the mx-3000 to work on remote #3 ( code122) but when we go to swithcing address (if the box even let's us get that far) it reads remote address 3 IR. can i get this to change to ir/uhf on address#3 tv1. then i get reset the #2 to another# . or is there something i can do to the mx-3000 program. thanks again. edmund thanks for the web site..

Outside from the fact that directv has the NFL ticket what other reasons do you have for going directv? Dish has over 35 HD channels, they have dual tuners, with the dual tuners you can do picture in picture. You can even combine two satellite feeds off of one cable and back feed video.

So Directv has about 13 HD channels, you can't do picture in picture, and you can't feed two feeds off on one line. So is there something I missing, or do you just sell Directv?

I'm having trouble understanding exactly what you are trying to do and what you have done. Slow down and tell us how many 622's you are using, and how many TV's each 622 is connected to.

From my experience, Universal Remotes are only going to be able to control the main feed (the one getting Component Video or HDMI) off each receiver. If you are in single TV mode, then the URC will control both tuners via PIP.

You'll need to use the Dish RF remote for the distant locations. Each receiver comes with two remotes. One is RF and IR, the other is IR only. You must use the RF+IR remote for the remote zone. Look on the back of the remote to determine which you are dealing with.

Recalling from memory, so I might be slightly off:
To change receiver ID's, get the receiver on the "SYSTEM INFO" page. Menu->6->1->3
Hold down the "sat" mode button till they all light up.
press 1 (for address 1) --> # --> *record* --> *record*
you should see the address change onscreen. If not, I'm forgetting a step.

zmas. I have 1 622 located in the basement. ( Big money house ) i have a home theater room and 8 hd tv's. All tv's are new sharps. I'm useing exsisting coax for each tv channel 73 in video. I'm useing a hd distrobution 8 way to balums ( cat 5 ) to all tv's on component 1. I have a mx-3000 with a custom program for the HT. The client and wife ( only 2 live there but sometimes grand kids stay ) want to watch 2 different things at the same time. It's ok if one wants tv1 and the other tv2 or the pvr. They don't want to carrie remotes around. They bought 5 or 6 uhf remotes ( e-bay ). there are 2 remotes in each location ( only if i can get them to work ) my mx-3000 works with the 122 code when the reciever is in tv1 address 3 ir. can i change that address to 3 ir/uhf. when i change remote address it goes to 5 ir/uhf. is remote address 3 only ir. when i set tv 1 to address 5 the mx-3000 does'nt work. my other issue with the exact same remotes some work some don't i deal with that later. hope that is enough info..thanks

Quality of Picture-wise, Dish is far superior to DTV, and as far as I'm concerned, ease of use is much better as well. I'll always reccommend Dish over DTV.

So do the dish remotes work when they are on addresses 3 and 5? If so program the mx3000 to address 5 that is code 185 in the mx editor.
