Ive been working for hours on the programming for this system and when I try to download to the remote MX Editor crashes every time. I try an old program file and it works fine. Something is wrong with my file. I really dont want to start over. Does anyone know of a way to fix the file?

Thats pretty odd. I've had the editor slow to a crawl after a long programming session, but never plain crash.

The only idea I have is to write down all your devices, then start a new file and complete step 1 - create devices. Next, right click on each device and select "import", and import them from your other file. I would do 3 or 4 devices at a time - then upload, till you figure out what device is crashing - or until your done.

That method should keep all your macro's intact. The key is to import the base devices first - ones that don't have macro's on them like TV and Receiver, then import the devices that rely on the others for their macro's.

If that made any sense...

Or, you could try to export each device first, and then make a new file and import those devices one at a time, and see if that new file will download.

I would download it and test it with each device that you import.

If it does work, then redo your macros, etc.

I think it's worth a shot before you re-do everything.

Be sure to do as ZM said, and import the basic devices first.

The only change from ZM's approach is to actualy export the devices to their own files, and then create a new file and import the devices one by one, and test the file after each import.

This may clean up each device, rather than taking it directly from the original file.

Let us know how you do! :-)

Thats pretty much what I ended up doing. I removed all the macros (I was using a MSC-400 and decided to completely redo the macros) and imported each device (uploading and saving between each import). I dont know what happened, but the file must have gotten corrupted. The first time I tried to import devices into the 400 editor (before I tried to upload to the MX900) it crashed the 400 editor too. I guess I should have taken the hint then and started over before spending all that time finishing the remotes. I had 6 different remotes for this job.
