Hi,

When creating a new serial device in the current MSC-400 editor, the device has a number (36 if memory serves me) of predefined function names.

A couple of questions:

Where are these names coming from?

Can they be deleted? I can edit them yes but would like to delete the one I end up not using.

Thanks.

Those are the stock hard button labels from the MX-900/MX-950. There doesn't seem to be any way to delete them, however you can rename them to something else.

I seem to remember some caution about leaving numerical digits where they are for use with the favorite channels tool.

Thank you for the information.

I wonder why they don't allow the creation of an empty serial device? And why chose the remote buttons as default function names? The remotes are not serial devices and few serial devices are likely to have those same functions. Oh well, one of life's little mysteries.

Be careful about changing the numbers functions (spaces 25 through 34). MSC-400 editor puts them in the correct slots for the favorite channels wizzard.

If you erase the name, you'll still get an empty smart macro when you convert it to a group, but once you've converted it, you can just erase the empty ones. Kind of a pain, but that's how it is.
